On a recent road trip, my 2009 Prius began making a loud dragging sound. Pulled in to a car dealer at the freeway exit (Mazda) and found the black plastic shield on the front bumper had cracked down the middle and was dragging. I had them remove it to finish my drive home; my question now is, what should be considered a fair price for having this replaced? Last fall, I had a minor accident and had to have body work done on the hood and front fender; should I have the body shop that I used check it out, or stick with the dealer? I'm wondering if the shield might have cracked in the accident and was overlooked. As a single 50-something female, I just want to know what a repair like this might run, so I don't get taken for a ride (pardon the pun!).

10mm socket, might need to replace some of the plastic push in clips, about 30 mins labor..i think $100 parts and labor is a fair guess if you buy the part..be sure to check that a shop will do it before you order the part..
You might be able to complete this project in 15 minutes if you can get your Travelocity Gnome to help.
mine fell off about a year ago, every time I change the oil I say ill put it back on, never do..im just getting lazy
Back in the day, I would have loved to try that, but with joint replacements and arthritis, getting under my car now is NOT going to happen...I can barely change a tire now. ;(
