In this video, there are turn signals that shine through the mirror.

Is this something that requires replacement of the mirror glass, or is it something that can be done just by purchasing and installing the LEDs?

Someone else did it, I believe it works with the original mirror.

I have seen the ones you add the leds to the back of the mirror, they are cheaper of course.

When I added the mirror housing turn signals, There is a heating element that is directly in the middle of the mirror that has a plastic backing that mounts to the swivel ball socket like mount.

Remove the mirror from the black plastic. Then you will probably need to peel it back carefully and not tear the heating element (flat wire) away from the glass because it's not transparent.

or if it's expensive ones you know you get a new glass with the mount and you loose some heating in the area that the LEDs sit.

You can youtube and see the basic process.

With my winters it's not an option.

some times some silvering needs to be removed to get them to be bright enough, others have said that you can see more then the lights (circut board) I have some, wasnt worth messing up my aspherical mirrors though
