So I have been trying to find an ideal mounting location for my iottie easy one touch 2 and have had no luck. I currently have it below the AC controls but would like to secure it with something stronger like screws. The doublesided 3M tape I bought at hardware store only lasted 1 week after it started to come off. Is there anything I might damage if I screw in this area? As you can see there is a seam in the area I have it in and the 3M tape doesn't seem to be working. I would like to screw in a plastic disc in this area and mount the suction cup to the disk. I would need a larger diameter disk to allow a good seal with the suction cup and the disk and not have screws get in the way. Is this possible? SM-G900V ?
I have iOttie Easy One Touch XL (can hold a little bit wider phone than Touch 2) for my iPhone 6 Plus and mount it on the dashboard on the left side with no problem of coming off for more than three years. May be from a little help of the sun shade I bought from here and tinted windows all around keep stuffs in my car cooler: limo on back and rear, 15% on front and 70% on windshield.
That space behind where you circled is mostly empty on my pc2. I used that space to tuck away all my relays and wires for the rear camera. Why not drill into the area to the left of the 12v socket? that way you don't drill into that top trim and make it difficult in case you want to get behind the AC controls.
So I ended up using a 2 tube epoxy and that seems to be working great right now. It looked like it fused both plastics together so I don't have to worry about screws anymore. I'll update in a few weeks and see how it's holding up. Heads up though if you want to try this, the fumes are strong so be prepared to leave the windows down to air out for a few hours.
It's been about two weeks now and my epoxy method is still solid. On a side note I decided to test fit out a proclip mount I had for an Audi and it fit just as solid in the Prius, no drilling or glue it just clips in. I like the position of the iOttie because I can manipulate the phone and apps with my elbow resting on the armrest but I do have to glance down to see directions while driving and other stuff. The proclip I was using in my Audi has an integrated charger with it so all I have to do is drop it in the cradle and it's getting juice vs the iOttie I have to manually connect/disconnect each time. The proclip is also a little higher so it's easier too see stuff on the screen when driving. I'll be testing both out a little longer and see which one I stick with. iPhone ?
Do you have any more pics of that proclip mount and how you got it to work on your C? Also, for what model Audo was that proclip for? I might consider doing the same idea for the wife's passenger side.
had mines on the flat part on top of the vents. have a iottie too. and these suckers sticks to anything.
