I just had my 1st road trip with my new Prius v which has dynamic cruise control. I noticed that everytime a car merges into my lane and is picked up by the radar, a pop-up screen appears up on the MID (confirming a car is detected). If that car speeds up and is far enough and no longer detected, again a pop-up appears. Is there a way to deactivate those annoying pop-ups?
That's new to the 2015? model. In my 2012 it shows cars in range ahead with little triple semicircle radar lines that show up in the cruise control graphic unobtrusively. Oh, here in the 2015 Prius v owner's manual it says you can turn the pop up display off; http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM47887U/pdf/OM47887U.pdf#page574
When they pop up just press the "display" button on the steering wheel. It is annoying but I am now used to just hitting the button when it occurs.
I just checked in the car, and the only pop-ups we can disable are the ones related to incoming calls, temperature controls and turn by turn instructions during navigation. I guess I'll get used to it. Thanks everyone!
It's there so that you know when the status has changed (i.e. whether it lost connection with the car in front or whether it has gained radar lock with a car in front).
I understand its utility. I just wished there was a way of disabling it like I did with all the other pop-ups!
