So I bought my Bella three days ago (2010 Prius V), and today I had to drive in to work in downtown Pittsburgh so I can attend a meeting elsewhere in the afternoon. I will have to drive home through rush hour traffic afterwards. But oddly enough, I can't wait!! This is where her mpg will shine! Does anyone else have an irrational love of driving in heavy traffic to show off their beautiful machines?? Or am I the only weirdo??
Yup. But don't gloat. Those gas guzzlers don't like to see us gloating. (They will say, "I'm not wasting much gas when idling." I say, "my engine shuts off." Silence. Except my engine turns on periodically when it needs to charge the battery, but I don't tell them that.) Mike
Nope. Perfectly normal. I don't seek out traffic jams. But I remember the good feeling I had the first time I sat in barely moving bumper to bumper traffic and realized I was one of the few people who actually was getting better gas mileage. Makes it a lot nicer and easier to simply crank up the music and enjoy the ride.
I'm so used to having my engine off in rush hour traffic it feels weird to drive a normal car. Driving my BMW is weird... why is the engine running at a stop light?! Oh and nice name. I named mine Suzy.
It was fun! Cranked up the ac, made some calls from the Bluetooth connection, streamed my tunes from Spotify...threw some nods to other Prii that were in the flow...good times. Hah hah iPhone ?
I hated being stuck in traffic with my old diesel, with the prius I sometimes hope I'll get stuck in traffic.
