I'm reserving final judgment till official preview. I also think there are two different cars being previewed in Las Vegas and then a few days later in Europe, doesn't make sense otherwise.

I just hope we will hear more about other upcoming Toyota hybrids in the lineup, either way I am in no hurry to part with my Gen3.

Sounds good to me, putting fresh money into a used depreciating asset.

I hope it looks better in person or slightly different at the reveal. I have been patiently waiting for the Gen 4 with the hopes it would have more mainstream styling, instead this looks even further out in left field. I am very disappointed and I personally think it's very unattractive. Even my wife who loves our Gen III thought the new car was ugly. Toyota's strong suit has never been styling, but at least the old cars were inoffensive unlike this design and the Mirai. I actually though that the 2015 Camry was a big improvement over the 2014 model in terms of styling, and was hoping the Prius would have more of a sporty look like that car.

Does anyone know if a redesigned Prius V be released in 2016 too?

Although I own the 3 gen. Prius and i absolutely love it,I must admit that the 4th generation looks much better !
It has a way more modern and aggressive look vs. gen. 3 !
I don't understand why people are comparing it with a very ugly looking Ford Probe !?
Doesn't at all look like it !

If by modern, you mean current fashion, then modern and aggressive is the last thing I look for.
I aim for functional, simple, adaptable, timeless and if possible, classless.
I try to visualize how it will look to me in 5, 10 and 15 years time.
Is it likely to meet my needs for the long term?
Will it look like a good vehicle that I'm happy to keep driving for years to come or will it look like one of the worst mistakes of 2015 that I can't wait to get rid of and no one wants to buy?

Well in that case I have the perfect car for you !
    The VW Golf !
It's simple, timeless but unfortunately looks terrible boring and no matter which gen. It always looks the same !!!
I rather have something that stands out, that's why I drive a Prius !

The nissan cube is a great design. Simple, graceful, flowing, form following function. No overwrought design flourishes just to make it look "modern".

the new prion is overwrought, amateurish and just plain ugly. Unleashing this monstrosity on the public should be a crime. Like many of toyota/Lexus's recent creations. Possibly the worst is the Scion iA, where they take a rather pretty and well designed Mazda 2 and bolt an ugly gaping maw on to it. The entire toyota design staff needs to be fired. Bring the guy who designed the 74 Celica out of retirement.

It got all its design cues from an ISO shipping container. It looks like a car should look when it comes out of the crusher. It's like a modern version of the VW Thing. I can't decide which is uglier, but it's close.

Perhaps if I'd been in the market for a truck in 48.
Our 2010 Prius still runs like new. My son now has our 92 Previa which has never needed any major repairs though its now nearing the end of its days. Both have always been really useful vehicles.

I've always wondered if a prius drive-train + battery could be transplanted into a classic car chassis.

Nice car to drive. Love cars that avoid changing appearance for no particular reason.
Too small for 4 adults if tall people have to sit in both front and back seat on the same side, limited trunk space and far too many problems

Yes, it can. I've seen it done. Sorry, I don't remember what the donor body ended up being, but I was quite thrilled to see a car at the "Back to the 50's" show with a hybrid label and it actually be a hybrid.

Well, I voted "Witholding"... but now with these new pictures... ouch. Some small aspects look OK.

But the crease-fin-thing from second door back to the tail lamp, yikes. Think I saw those on a 1958 Chevy?

Then there's that taillight. I don't know. Hopefully a model for another market? Very scary.

Might be time to get a good deal on a third Gen while they last.

I believe the 1958 Chevy is classified as a timeless classic. Not a bad comparison for the
    Gen IV.

Agree. The best looking cars from Japan were from the early 70's. Given how well the refreshed USA muscle cars are selling from that era (Challenger, Camaro, and Mustang), odd that the Japanese car makers haven't followed suit.

Although unlike just about everyone else, I kind of like the gen4 Prius. I was hoping for something more along the lines of a small Tesla. Instead, we got weird. But I'll take a little weird over boring. Hopefully, the gen4 is somewhat fun to drive.

I'm waiting until I can touch a for-real example before I render judgement, but I will say this:

I really REALLY hope that those tail lights in the leaked photos are a joke and some drunk auto designers in Aichi are laughing themselves silly right about now.....

Otherwise.....it had better get 75mpg, seat 8, and go from zero to sixty in 2.5 seconds. :D

The problem is, so many modern cars look like each other. Like Model S and Ford Fusion.
