Can anyone confirm that the original 2012 Prius Plug In Advanced Model automatically came with the Tech Package STANDARD? I went to test drive 2 Advanced Models and both had cloth manual seats. No head up display, no leather (or softex), etc. I had though I read that the 2012 Advanced models were fully loaded as standard package and in 2013 Toyota took off all the standard packages and made them options because no one was paying the obscene asking prices. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks
the 12's only came base or advanced. at least when i preordered in 2011. base is cloth, manual seat, small nav. no charging app, lka, drcc, not sure what all else.
The 2012 Advanced has LED headlights with automatic sensor, power driver's seat, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, HDD audio with the larger screen, Safety Connect (built-in cell phone for emergency service, and with remote apps), pseudo-leather seats with seat heaters. It does NOT have lane-keep-assist. I don't recall what they pulled out to put into the optional "Technology Package" in subsequent years.
In my opinion, you were test driving two BASE models.....despite what a salesman might have told you.
Thanks Bisco and Charles! Charles, the cars none of those options which leaves me scratching my head. El Crucero, that can be possible, but I encountered 2 of them. I may have to contact them again. Thanks
no lane assist? I wonder what the criteria is/was or what features you had to have (or not have) in order to get lane assist. .
I think the prototype had LKA, but it was removed from the production model. Not sure why. There is a blank button on the steering wheel of the Advanced just above the DRCC how-far-should-I-be-from-the car-in-front-of-me button, and some suspect that that used to the LKA button. For the 2012 PiP, there was a choice of (I think) 7 colors, and Base or Advanced. That was it. The were some port/dealer accessories like door edge protectors, but no other factory options.
I forgot the collision avoidance system that comes with the DRCC (slams on the brakes, tensions the shoulder belts, and, if a collision is absolutely unavoidable, will deploy air bags before the actual collision). And I forgot the heads--up display.
FWIW, I can confirm the other answers you are getting. No such thing as a 2012 PIP Advanced without the softex, power seat, and tech etc. I for one am glad not to have the LKA. Hated it on my 2010.
you encountered two base models, at two different dealers, and two different sales weasels told you they were advanced? why the surprise?
The 2012 Prius Plug In Advance had all the options mentioned in several post. Originally, I was going to get a new 2013 Prius 5, which included all the options mentioned PLUS LKA (lane keep assist) and the self parking option. These two options were never offered on the Prius Plug In Advance. The Prius Plug In Advance is well optioned and a used bargain if in good shape with reasonable mileage under $20,000.
A quick way to ID the 2012 PiP Advanced model is by the dual LED headlamps with headlight washer bumps on the front bumper. Following years are more difficult because Tech Package was optional on Advanced models.
