Ta Da. Traded my '05 Seaside Pearl in on an '06 Barcelona Red/Grey Interior (both pkg #4), after a 4 month wait. The Barthelona Red is really, really sumpin'. The backup camera and tax exemption was worth the trade up. The tradein has 3 folks ready to buy (only 13.8k miles after 373 days). Tough being a Toyota salesman these days . B)
Congrats! We should start a "Wild and Crazy Guys" Barcelona Red Club (did you ever catch Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd doing that bit on SNL?) Would you be willing to divulge what the dealer gave you for your '05? Lots of '05 owners would be interested, I'm sure.

I am very fond of Barthelona, and the memory of good times during a couple of ports of call. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ghostofjk @ Apr 26 2006, 07:09 PM) </div> Yeah, why not. $3000 difference between my new '06 and traded '05. Tax and title costs made it a wash - figgerin' tax exemption. Both were pkg #4's.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ghostofjk @ Apr 26 2006, 06:09 PM) </div> I'm in!
I, too, traded my '05 Prius (Salsa Red) Pkg. #4 for an '06 (Barcelona Red) Pkg. #5. I looked at the numbers and the bottom line was that I had to pay about $800 for the trade up figuring in the $3150 tax credit. It was a no-brainer!
I took the State and Fed credit and deduction for my '05 on the '05 returns. Can I do it again if I buy an '06 in '06?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Sean05Opt6 @ Apr 26 2006, 11:36 PM) </div> In 2005, the IRS allowed a deduction for hybrids (I don't know about your state; RI doesn't have any credits/deductions). For 2006, it is a credit. I'm not an accountant, but I'm pretty certain that there is no reason why you couldn't get the credit in 2006 for a new hybrid, having bought one previously in 2005. It's interesting that folks have been able to get good deals trading in 2005s to buy 2006s. I don't think you could do that with any other car without taking a big loss. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dvdirv @ Apr 26 2006, 11:11 PM) </div> A few of my friends have Salsa Red Prii. When they saw mine in the "new" red, they both said that they wanted to buy a new one also!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Sean05Opt6 @ Apr 26 2006, 08:36 PM) </div> Yes. I claimed deductions for my '01, '02 and '04, and will file for the '06 credit in a year.
