Considering the photos from this thread: SPOTTED! *UNWRAPPED* 2016 Prius spotted this morning! | PriusChat
What are your initial thoughts of the 2016 Prius?

    NOTES:
    • It's a simple "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" poll. I threw in the "abstaining" vote to capture that population as well.
    • You cannot see the results without voting. This is to drive more votes.
    • You cannot change your vote once placed. This is to "lock you in" on your vote.
    • This poll will close on September 8, 2015, when the Prius is officially revealed, when more information and higher quality images are available.

THUMBS UP!!! It is about time Gen IV hit the market. Sales in California of all Praises dropped more than 15% the first seven months this year (to 108,073). There were times over the last few years that the Prius was the top selling sedan in the state.

I didn't care for the Gen3 appearance when it was revealed six and a half years ago, but function was more important to me. Over the years, that initial dislike has vanished.

I feel more neutral about yesterday's photos.

This mornings spy shot in the LA Times was the best I've seen so far, it looks good.

Boy, most of the respondents to the "Gen IV Prius Specuation" must have had really unrealistic hopes for how the Gen 4 would look - personally I like it. That said, we'll probably wait for the next generation Prius V to actually buy...

Overall, I like, but I'm not a fan of the floating roof. The sedan profile may attract more buyers.

These latest pics look far too North American mainstream design. The designers seem to be saying "we can do no wrong".

I'm mostly OK with the "red car" look in the spy shots, at least the front and side views. I also don't especially like those triangular cutouts. The rear tail lights cause me to pause and wonder what the heck they were on when they sculpted those thinks in the design studio. Just unnecessary going down that far on the quarter panels.

I voted the third option because I really want to see more of the interior and read about the mechanics of the car's operation. I also want to know more about the PIP2, as that version is the more likely one I'd buy. Just hope that one isn't an uglier front end, as has been posted in the artist's renditions.

spy shots don't look great, but so hard to tell. i'll reserve my opinion, but i voted thumbs down. that being said, i'm more interested in the interior, and the mpg/tech is what sells me.

I shall save opinion until I see the actual car. My first impression is mixed. I like the front, especially since it appears to have more ground clearance. The side profile does not excite me, but I dislike the rear. (tail lights and "floating" roof.

I feel the most handsome cars right now are being manufactured by Hyundai, not that I would buy one. Too bad Toyota didn't contract out the exterior design to Hyundai.

Withholding my opinion until September 8th.

It is unique. There is no other car I can think of that looks like it. It's nowhere near a Ford Probe. The rear end stretches a good bit longer than the 3rd gen. The rear quarter panel looks a bit blocky but maybe it's function over form. I like the front end styling. The rear side window that slides down appears pretty short horizontally.

I like how journalists are calling it: 'less tadpole-llike' (Car and Driver) ..... and saying how it now has to be a better car because gas prices are low and it can't get by on gas prices like it used to. .... So, I like how the press is grooming the car (or customers). It matters. Some people listen to public opinion or reviewers opinions when choosing a car.

Those are the only two features I don't like as well, so I voted I like it. I also don't think how a car looks should matter in a purchasing decision, and for me it really doesn't.

The biggest things I'm concerned about are storage places, which were reduced from G2 to G3 and a big reason I never considered a G3, ride/suspension (my G2 is a little harsh), road noise, and instrument location. I'm not fond of center instruments. That concept is idiotic, to be kind about it. I could probably get used to it so it's not a deal breaker, but there should be a law that the speedometer should be directly in front of the driver, or just off-center in cars that need a tach next to it (which the Prius doesn't).

Finally, some (sort of) news. I've been waiting quite a few years.

From what little we've seen, the gen4 looks great.

Hopefully, the gen4 handling lives up to the hype and the you don't have to get out and push to get it moving.

There are some aspects of my G3 that I don't like in terms of appearance and from the G4 spy shots it is looking like those aspects are even more pronounced so it is unlikely I will be getting one. The only hope is that in a few years time the Gen4 tech will filter through to other models.

To put it bluntly, I don't like the 4th-gen design because as of what I can see right now, too much of it appears styled mostly for style's sake, as opposed to designed for a particular purpose, then stylized. Whereas the underpinnings may represent a significant upgrade over the prior generations, the body styling details (notably front fascia, headlights, and taillights) seems to be trying too hard to separate itself from both its predecessors, and the now the many competitors who can now also boast a slipstreamed form. For those details, what we now have are large and complicated forms that serve no discernible purpose other than to 1) look different and 2) guaranteed breakage in the smallest fender-benders.

It looks almost like a sedan to me. Cargo space seems like it is smaller, but can't tell from just the pictures. Hope the center console from the gen 3 goes bye-bye and it doesn't retain the current numb driving experience. Withholding judgement until 09/08.

I will reserve judgement until the real thing comes out. Some will like the exterior appearance and some won't. Cargo space is important to me. Performance is important to me. I assume there will be incremental performance improvements.

A repugnant incoherent design-by-committee atrocity. We'll see an emergency 1st year refresh like with the 2012 civic.

Is it possible to short-sell toyota stock ADRs?
