I am driving for 3 years now in my Prius v or Wagon as it is called in Europe, equiped with a lithium-ion battery pack between the front seats. Works great and a lot of room in the back and it's a 7seater.

    can't wait. *_*

While its nice that the 4th gen is rated at 55 mpg - I am already achieving more than that on my 3rd gen Prius.

Wrt to improving its hypermiling potential - the two basic design tweaks Toyota could do but is not doing this iteration of the Hatchback redesign is lowering the aerodynamic drag by reducing its frontal surface and lowering the curb weight. Instead - Toyota's major tweak this time is (1) making the gas engine more thermally efficient (better cold temperature fuel efficiency) which only gives the Prius slightly better epa mpg ratings but will likely greatly improve its real world mpg performance on fuelly. AND (2) adapting the Prius to a universal architecture system so that more parts are interchangeable/shared across the Prius family line (which keeps cost down too) - this suggest a SUV like crossover Prius maybe likely in the near future.

Personally, I am interested whether Toyota made other design tweaks like ...

    1) redesigning the the oil access hatch on the bottom engine shield so it does not fall off .
    2) a place on the dashboard to easily attach a Garmin gps, iphone/android , Scangauge II, radar detector, cb radio, and/or maybe a dashcam... that is drop the star trek dashboard theme for something more practical...
    3) re designing the climate control using dials or levers so that it can be controlled without looking at it.
    4) Increasing the 12v power adapter from 100w to 200w so it can run a portable tire compressor OR
selling a portable tire compressor that will not blow the fuse of the current 12v power adapter.
    5) Redesign the electrical system to allows a Prius to jump start another car ( or Prius).
    6) add more interior LED lighting - I can't see all controls at night (e.g. door controls ) can't see storage areas in the dark (e.g. the storage area underneath the transmission stick bridge where the 12v power adapter port cannot be seen in the dark )

I place little trust in the posted articles (I do hope the poster had permission). "insiders say that is likely to include a larger, 1.8-liter gasoline engine" - funny, but I'm pretty sure my GIII has a 1.8 litre engine. I wonder how a 1.8 litre engine will be "larger" than a 1.8 litre engine. ;) If they got that wrong then they probably don't know what they are talking about. In other words they made up the story based on a one line sentence from Toyota that contained -NO- information. Anything to "sell" news!

But we will all see in... -19- days. Counting!

Agree! current Gen already has a larger 1.8L, "a little pregnant" :D.

Also, here I think they meant to say that all-electric above 25 mph!

I'm proud to say that myself and the other 'Prius Experts' got invites to go to the reveal event in Las Vegas on Sept. 8th.

My personal Thanks goes out to Doug, Erica and the rest of the the Prius Team as well as Toyota for this opportunity.

So rest assured we'll be on the lookout to share as much as we can when we get it with the Priuschat community.

It's funny how our perspectives are different. To me, everything since the 2001-2003 Prius has been *too big.* Well, until the c, anyway.

I've had 10 foot (120 inch) long copper piping in my 2nd gen, and I have carried my Little Giant 26 in it as well with a lot of room to spare.

I like to ask other Prii owners if they've noticed that the Prius seems to get larger as the need for space becomes greater, weird.

I used the Prius last Saturday to transport an 8-foot arbor to my wedding.

We're going to figure out the best way - if we're allowed - to live stream photos to Priuschat somehow. Either here on the forum or to the Facebook or Twitter page, whichever is fastest and easiest. I mean, we plan on enjoying ourselves at the reveal and spending as much time as possible drooling/combing over the car(s). I for one don't want to take a picture and then spend several minutes uploading it. We'll figure something out. At this time, though, we are not allowed to reveal the location and time of the event so it'll be hard to tell everyone when the pictures will start coming in.

Let me count the ways. ;) It's just not aesthetically pleasing. I hope the side creases leads to better aerodynamics. If the car can do an EPA of 60 mpg, I'd let it slide. If I could plug it in, even better.

Good thing we're not of a hive mind (I think). I can only speak for myself...and I just refuse to worship everything Toyota puts out. Nail me to the cross for I have sinned.
