Hello everyone: Just got a Prius (it's an European? model according to Toyota) here in Taiwan. Sadly, there is no alarm option been offered here... (actually, there is no option available from Toyota Taiwan at this point at all~_~) Anybody know if I can play the same trick that US owners can to activate the built-in already? factory alarm system? I asked one Toyota technician to go through the instruction posted on priuschat.com trying to activate the alarm first (w/o GBS) without success. We (the technician and myself) can't find the "DOP SECURITY" at all with the IT-II (Intelligent Tester II) scantool. Though they also have the IT-I (exactly the scantool mentioned by the attached installation guide), the software version of it is too old (ver. 10.1) , so it can't recognize my Prius and they have no idea how to upgrade it. Should I cut the yellow wire of the driver side junction box (is that the fuse box I can see below the steering wheel?) and try again? Any European marketed Prius owner can give me some clues such as how your factory alarm works or option description from your local dealer? Thanks a bunch! Nelson
You can always give it a shot. Some of the US-spec stuff doesn't work on the Asian/European models like the reverse beep cancellation "code" (unless the 2006 model has a single button to does that)

Anyway, just want to check with you guys here to see if anyone done this with European/Asian model before so my trying won't look so stupid. Nelson
