I'm not in the market myself, but I got curious and did a nationwide (USA) search for PIP on cars.com and found some pretty good deals I think (all are PIP Advanced with Tech Package): 2012 Classic Silver Metallic with 67,716 mi - $15,970 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in , $15,971 - Cars.com 2012 Blizzard Pearl with 64,808 mi - $17,980 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Advanced, $17,980 - Cars.com 2012 Sea Glass Pearl with 26,448 mi - $19,495 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in , $19,495 - Cars.com 2012 Classic Silver Metallic with 53,459 mi - $19,900 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Advanced, $19,900 - Cars.com 2012 Classic Silver Metallic with 39,169 mi - $19,900 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Advanced, $19,990 - Cars.com 2012 Sea Glass Pearl with 20,799 mi - $19,994 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in , $19,994 - Cars.com Thought I would share with the community in case anyone is in the market for a PIP at the moment. Something makes me think the Chevy dealership with the first one I listed doesn't know it was the highly-specced model and listed it to be competitive with other Base PIPs with similar mileage.
That PIP for under $16K went quickly, easy to see why with it's price. Do you all think that the current PIP will plunge in value when the next gen PIP comes out? I really like the idea of my next car being a plug-in, and the PIP isn't a bad choice considering my daily commute is about 9 miles each way. With a little bit of hypermiling I theoretically might be able to drive daily on electrons alone. I just find it amazing that there are fully-loaded PIPs out there (albeit with somewhat high mileage) for less than a brand new Prius C One.
This price of prius' will continue to go lower. Combine that with falling gas prices, next generation of prius' coming out, and end of year clearances of 2015 cars to make room for the 2016, you are going to get better deals.
The third one I listed above just had a price drop: 2012 Sea Glass Pearl with 26,448 mi - $18,400 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in , $18,400 - Cars.com Heck of a deal for such low mileage. EDIT: Actually, a few have had price drops. 2012 Sea Glass Pearl with 20,799 mi - $17,994 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in , $17,994 - Cars.com 2012 Classic Silver Metallic with 39,169 mi - $18,991 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Advanced, $18,991 - Cars.com
I always get the HeeBeeGeeBee's when I see a super low price on 2012 PiPA remembering Hurricane Sandy hit right then. I am expecting a low miles 2012/2013 PiP about $19-20k at a dealer and more for Advanced. As the PiP approaches 70-80k miles (Cinderella time for non-CARB states) I think we can see as low as $15000 or a little lower, more for advanced. PS- possibly prices have fallen since I priced a few months back
I'm specifically interested in a PiP Advanced, but I'd also like to purchase the TOYOTA extended warranty. Is it possible to buy a vehicle that may NOT be certified pre owned and then add the extended warranty? (ie, one of the vehicles mentioned above) Thanks.
Check with Danny owner of this site I think his recent Gen4 posts have info about the warranty on his posts
Thanks. I checked out the links Danny has and I think they no longer work. I found my answer on the Toyota Financial Services page.
