I have 2012 Prius 2 and issues with the headlight bulb on passenger side. Today I brought new one and look into the socket and found that the socket is burned out. So my bulb would not hold into the right direction. What is the option for me? 1. Replace whole light assembly, if so, what is the part number for that? 2. Can only socket can be replaced? This would be the cheaper alternative but not sure it is possible. On socket it is written 99226-81017. But could not find the part anywhere on web. I would really appreciate if someone help me finding which part I need for both of them. I tried to research and could not find part number, there is a part for Base model but not sure it will work on Prius 2. Thanks
Replace the whole headlight assembly: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=161705716569&alt=web http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=371022838337&alt=web Several available on EBay
The passenger side lowbeam headlight bulb is difficult to reach. The bulb was most likely mounted incorrectly, at an angle, causing the plastic socket to melt from the heat. It's important to check the beam after changing the bulb. I've discovered improperly mounted bulbs several times and had to redo them to get it mounted correctly.
Thanks @xliderider ..I think it happened due to the same reason. This is exactly I was looking for. Thanks much!
I'm not sure what the part number is, the manual I have does not have any part numbers. Direct questions to the person or company you get the replacement light from.
