The brakes seemed less than usual. I took it to a local auto shop and they after diagnosis it , they said I need to replace the front wheel speed sensor. I went to Toyota spent 280 for the part and got it replaced. But the light was still on. They drove my car and double checked again, and told me I may also need to replace the wheel bearing. I don't know anything about cars. Therefore I'm asking for help in here. Are they telling me the right thing? I can't afford another geniue part from Toyota so I decided to go with OEM one instead. Is wheel bearing important to a car? Can I buy the 50$ ones on Amazon or eBay? or Timken Brand $170 ? I'm worrying after the wheel bearing replacement the light still won't go away.
C0205 Toyota ABS current left front wheel speed sensor signal malfunction. But after the new speed sensor installed, this code went away. However, the lights are still on.
We've been having exactly those symptoms: lights on, brakes feel a bit less responsive, like they're in failsafe mode. It always seems to inititiate with a momentary lapse in brake response. Happening maybe once a month at most in our case, and pulling over, shutting down and restarting has (so far) dispelled the symptoms. Maybe I've gotta do something.
No. Do you think the problem is related to wheel bearing like they told me? If just simply clearing the code and solve the problem that would save me a lot of money.
I would unhook the battery for at least 10 minutes and see if that clears it up (keep the hatch open while its unhooked). I've never heard of a car throwing a code for a bad wheel bearing, usually they're diagnosed by noise and feel.
Exactly what warning lights are on? Please take a sharp photo, and post. If the wheel bearing is not making any noise then I would question that it needs to be replaced. Yes, the bearings are important and I would not use the cheapest part that I could find.
