Car insurance premium is insane

    Travelers is good, normally pricey though. Fwiw if a broker can quote you a price you going to said insurer direct is normally cheaper.

    @mertechperformance So let's say I insured it with somebody older as the primary driver, what exactly are the consequences of this? Because I did this on the quotes and the rates are substantially cheaper.

    If they can prove you and only you drive it then your policy could be cancelled. Also if in multiple claims/accidents no matter whose fault they can again determine too much time with your driving must be happening.

    That makes sense. With AAA the rates are $310.25 per month with me as the primary driver and $228.50 with somebody else as the primary driver. So quite a big difference.

    I also went to Mercury and got rates of $321.16 per month with me as the primary and $213.81 with somebody else as the primary driver.

    This is so complicated and frustrating. Ugh.

    What deductible you quoting out? I'm in sacramento, driving since 15 no points 111 a MO for full coverage with uninsured and 250 deductible.

    Nope. As long as it's full coverage you're golden. If you crash and it's say totaled you pay ins who pays lien holder or you get sued if you cannot pay.

    He's 23. Interesting that travelers is cheap for you. Then again aaa is cheap for me and damn near a ton for others.

    Car used for work, school? Less miles driven will lower the premium as well.

    Also, if the car is garaged, it will lower the premium.

    If you go to the California Insurance Commissioner's website it has links to give estimates of insurance premiums and also gives info
    on California's low-cost insurance program. The forum won't let me post the links because I haven't posted 4 times (I'm a lurker) but Google it. They may be of use...
