I need help... I have a 2012 prius 2 with persona wheels on it. These persona wheels only have about 500 miles on them but are already showing random chips and they have never been curbed. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? These rims are not cheap and I'm concerned. Thank you all for your input.
Do you drive on gravel roads? The finish is painted on and clear coated, so it is prone to chipping if things like stones or gravel impact the wheels, especially while they are rotating. You can see how the chipped areas on the spokes could have been the leading edge of the rotating wheel.
It's strange bc i don't drive through gravel roads at all it's mostly city streets. Would you happen to have any suggestions as to what I can do to avoid more chips from happening or how to fix the chips I have now?
Not much you can do to prevent further chipping. You can try to find a touch up paint that matches the color of your Persona wheels and fill in the chipped areas.
I was gonna say the silver body color is a perfect match, you can touch up pens in that color. That's what I use on our Touring model's 17" rims, it's a perfect match. I just use the color end: the clear coat end just seems to mess it up. But, are the Persona rims slightly darker?
I recently bought a used 2013 Persona with 50K on it but haven't seen any rim chips like those you've posted. The former owner put a lot of highway miles on her, including a significant amount of winter driving. Here in PA the salt can be really tough on the exterior, which left lots of tiny pock marks on the hood and bumper. But by some miracle the rims are *pristine* -they might not stay that way under my watch though =P
