Occasionally my Prius will give me a quick what sounds like a warning beep after I turn on the car and after it has "booted up." It has only happened a handful of times over the last year or so. The only thing that seems to be in common is that it happens when my car is parked out in the hot sun for sometime. I especially notice it on long trips. I recall it happening on a trip to Disney last year (really hot) and a trip to Niagra falls this year (fairly hot 90+ degrees). I don't notice any warning lights going on or, if they do, they are gone by the time I look at the dash. It may not be heat related, but any ideas what the beep may be?
My car always beep once when i press start button. I believe the diffference is if im wearing seatbelt before i press start button to if i wait until i put it in drive.
Definitely not start-up, seat-belt or reverse beeps. I'm very familiar with those. It is definitely something random and out of the ordinary that catches my attention.
If the gas is low (i.e. the last bar is flashing), it'll beep maybe 5 seconds after you turn it on to remind you. That's a good possibility for something you'd only hear on rare occasions. Other alternative - at least one person was wondering about a mystery beep from the car that turned out to be from his cell phone instead.
+1, the message that flashes on the MFD screen is brief. The fob battery lasts only 2 years. If yours is about that old, that's probably what the beep is for.
