I bought a used 2012 at 66k miles, now its 69 miles and needs a oil change. I plan to do it myself and also rotate the tire. I wonder what else needs to be checked at this mileage. Can I do it myself or its better just to go to a dealer. Something in my mind: brake fluid, transmission fluid, brake pad. Need your advice...
you could also check your engine air filter and cabin air filter. maybe also the 12v battery in the trunk. oh, and your spare tire pressure!
Thanks guys. I wonder can I do those myself or I have to go to a dealer. The dealer offers packages that includes oil change which I think might be the most expensive part and I can do that myself. So I wonder how hard it is to do the rest of the stuffs myself
you can do it all yourself, and you're better off for it, because you know it's done and done right. if you can change the oil, you can rotate the tyres, and inspect the brakes while the wheels are off. use all standard precautions and be careful underneath the car.
Yes. I am able to do those things myself. My biggest concerns are the brake fluid or bleeding, axle, bearings and stuffs like that I have no idea how to get to them. And the dealer does not offer those separate services, it always come with oil change and rotate tire
not true, where are you getting your info? first of all, your a long way from needing brake fluid change. and when you do, any dealer will do it as a separate service, just ask them how much. second, wheel bearings don't need anything until they're failing, no sense in even giving them a thought, but if and when, any mech can change them. same with most any service on the prius, only a few need to go to the dealer, and you can shop around for those services when the time comes.
