new owner need help please

    I have no clue, if the battery over charged y does the battery only at blue not green? Im going to scan the code tomorrow will see what happen. Thanks guys

    If you are overcharging, you should have a full battery all green. I wonder if you put a load on the system, like headlamps, rear defroster, fan on high, A/C on. It will either cure it or kill it.

    Indeed, the ICE shouldn't run all the time. And the battery fan should run occasionally but not continuously.

    I seem to remember something about the foot brake adjustment, if out of adjustment, the engine continues to run. Also just recently there was a poster that replaced his HV battery himself, effortlessly, you may want to contact him. Read all Gen 2 posts on HV Battery and replacement. There are a lot of great minds here/ with experience. Contact them thru PriusChat, your car may be rescued........and you.

    Also the state of the 12V battery is extremely important. Is it New, charged?

    I just purchased the car last month so I have idea. I followed one of the procedure to test the 12v battery,it seems normal

    Do you mean "delta SOC" ?

    I've been monitoring delta SOC with Torque/Android. It always reads 0 for me.

    Perhaps the following Torque definition for delta SOC is incorrect for 2005 Prius?

    PID: 21cf (hex)
    Name: Delta SOC
    Equation: 0.01 * G
    OBD header: 7e3 (hex)​

    I use usbseawolf2000.csv. Delta SOC is one of the few items that doesn't produce any result other than 0.

    Perhaps delta SOC only becomes nonzero after HV module failure?

    Have any Priuschat members observed a nonzero delta SOC?

    Torque has been really useful for me. I'm logging the data and analyzing it, mainly looking at individual block voltages to see if I can predict which HV battery module might fail next. I didn't manage to get Torque set up and working until after I repaired my HV battery. I don't plan to put the left/right rear inside trim panels back into the car until I've convinced myself that my HV battery will be OK for a year. Fortunately I don't drive a huge amount of miles (owned Prius since 2006, current ODO is only 83k miles). So I think my HV battery mainly failed because of its age, not because of miles traveled.

    I'm nearly finished with my second full tank of fuel after fixing my HV battery. No DTC codes. SOC on Prius MFD is 6 (blue) or 7 (green) bars. Performance and mpg are quite good. >41 mpg for 2 tanks. In contrast, when my HV battery was bad (1 failed module + 1 slightly weak module), my mpg was <30. Also I was getting frequent "triangle of death" warnings, DTC POA080, plus the ICE and HV battery fan ran almost all the time. All of those issues went away after I repaired my HV battery.

    All the symptoms you mention point to the battery they "rebuilt" has failed. As far as I'm concerned, there are no ifs ands or buts. The system is not overcharging, it is trying to charge a failed battery. Failed batteries heat up while charging and that's why the fan is always on. The engine is always running because it's trying to charge a battery that won't charge. Take it back to the shop that "fixed" your battery and demand they "fix" it again.

    I have all the lights on just like before the battery die. Sunday i was driving then all sudden the lights went off. My car operated back like it used to be. My MPG increased dramatically, from 41 to 49 mpg. Then today, after i parked came out, all of the lights went back on again. The triangle, engine, vsc, brake, and a car icon on the screen.

    sound like a loose connection. check the battery cables, especially where the negative connects to the chassis.

    This sounds like a loose connection within the traction battery enclosure, such as a loose bus bar connection. If you are covered under a traction battery warranty, file a claim. If you are not covered, and are willing to expose yourself to high voltage, read the many posts from PC members who have opened up their traction batteries to work on them so that you can determine if this is something you can do or not.

    if you don't know how to check your battery connections, i suggest a mechanic or dealer.

    just took the car to a friend's friend shop, he plugged the obd scanner, no code found but the lights still on.

    You need a better scanner that can scan Prius codes. Where are you located?

    I'm not sure if AutoZone in CA will read the codes for you. If not, you have the dealer option for $120

    They may not be able to. Some of the newer vehicle's computers actually run so fast, it takes something better than just a code scanner.

    That's why the dealership charges so much to "scan" for codes. Before some of PC folk say " well I can read mine with my laptop", this is true. But it may not have the most up-to-date software.

    Most folks don't care what the car is doing unless one of the "tell-tale" lights are on. And why spend the extra money to shut the lamp off once.

    Something is loose, corroded, or even a contact could be backed out. Take it to someone who knows. Prius is a very sophisticated machine, I wouldn't go to the Twilight zone for anything.

    I've always wondered if anyone has ever actually been compensated through the Carfax buy back guarantee.

    I've never really met anyone or heard of anyone that ever said Carfax bought back their car.
