I am combining two Prii into one good one. One was hit hard from the back while the other was hit head on. I almost have all the parts/cables removed from both rears (I'll be cutting them off and welding the good one on the one that was hit from behind) I have found a difference. On the one I am keeping it has a hole in the floor and a pair of wires go down and plug into a sensor on the left hand side hear the gas tank / left wheel. On the other Prius and many others I have checked they don't have this sensor or a hole in the floor for a cable to go underneath and plug into it. I plan on drilling a hole about the same size and plugging into the sensor to retain functionality but I am amazed that the other Prii I have checked don't have this sensor or a hole in the floor. Has anyone seen this and knows what it is? I have the 2004/2006 repair manuals/docs but I can't find this sensor showing up. If anyone knows let me know I'm pretty curious on what each sensor does in the car. I've also attached pictures of the black car I am restoring and the gold car I am using for parts
Please tell me if one has HID headlamps and the other has halogen. I believe that you are looking at the HID leveling sensor. If you put a load in the back of your Prius, the sensor automatically aims the HID lamps downward. I had mine go out, it put a pictogram on the multi-fuction display. I am doing this by looking only. That arm on the sensor moves and tell a computer we have moved. Then it drops the lamps. LG-D851 ?
This car does have the HID lamps. That makes perfect sense because all the other cars do not have the HID lights in them. Thanks for helping me out on the sensor.
Post a new thread in this forum. I'm very interested to see how you are going to weld the two body shells together to maintain structural integrity of the finished product.
