Induction Upgrade

My guess would it would be a decrease to start out while people keep trying to rev the engine to try to hear it. Then once they get bored with it, it will be the same as it was before.

I was rightly chastised once for poking fun at at a car owner for doing cosmetic "upgrades" to their vehicle. Won't do that again. Your car, your life. Anybody poked fun at Rodney lately? nuff said.

Yeah, I started talking here about how great it is but was told there is a forum for Volts..
It can probably be tracked down.

I describe the Volt as a great EV all week long but when I run the battery down it then becomes a Prius with a full battery pack.
It's amazing how many people still don't know the Volt has an engine.
Plus, I'm pretty sure the transaxle is produced by the same supplier as the Prius, only it is a "Leap in Technology" as Lutz wanted.

Say, have you guys heard anything about SWA getting ready to do maintenance at MCI?
I may be working on Big Iron again,,, if the price is right!

Look out, uncontrolled wondering can lead to irreversible learning. Especially if you look up, say, “Helmholtz resonator”.

It's funny how many comments like this turn up, as if the resonator were something that somehow only quieted the airflow but cost flow efficiency, and taking it out would just trade things the other way.

Hardy ever does someone mention that a loud intake sound is a sign of a pulsating flow, not a smooth one, and that making loud sound takes energy, and carries that energy away, not through the drive train or wheels, and that energy comes from somewhere....

Maybe Toyota's engineers do know a thing or two.

Because resonators have frequency-response curves (corresponding to engine RPM), if you understand them enough to do the math with them (and not just say "wouldn't the flow be smoother without this box here?"), you could choose their sizes to slightly tailor the response curve of an engine across a range of RPM, which would be what actual serious tuners would be up to if they had an engine and a particular performance change they wanted for it, and were doing that math.

There probably wouldn'be much point doing that to a Prius engine, unless you also meant to reflash the hybrid ECU, because it's what chooses the engine RPM and load to match the driving conditions, and the performance curve that's programmed into it for the engine is based on the stock components including Toyota's choice of resonators.
