Has anyone ever had any luck with an aftermarket antenna, as far as AM reception goes? I think there's just something about the car that is causing it. Sometimes things like accelerating, shifting into neutral, adjusting climate controls, things like that alter reception. Still pretty much unusable though. Really frustrating.
Probably the age of your car. I have a 2014 Avalon. I live in a suburb of Chicago and I don't have any problems with mine. I had a 2011 Prius before I bought the Avalon. No problems with it either. So I don't know. Just my experiences.
I have the same issue on my 2005. There has to be an antenna issue somewhere, maybe someone has a fix?
