I'm not sure how to feel about the renderings. I think it looks edgy and cool, but I'd say the renderings are probably 70% accurate.

If the dash looks at all like from what I can see, I won't be getting a G4. I'd be disappointed if they made the dash traditional with all the instruments clustered through the steering wheel down low.

And the peak of the roof moved forward again like the G2. Makes me wonder about headroom, yet headroom was never an issue for me in the G2 and I'm 5'8.

Easy to see the above is a 3rd gen with a custom bumper package.

Was that the first model Toyota applied liftback too?
I think the illusion of a trunk will make the new Prius looks more acceptable to more people though.

And we need one year old articles repeated because of .... ?

I suppose because there isn't much new info to talk about on 4th gen Prius ... after 6 years and 2 months since the arrival of 3rd gen on dealer lots on US West coast.

Click on 'production begins links in chart in link. Nov 30 2015 IIRC

Probably 1.5 months left to wait before we see anything substantial.

I'm banking that we will see and know some details and design like 2 weeks before that show.

Interesting. Auto Express seems to be suggesting that the 4th gen will be exclusively 4-wheel drive-ish... which on the surface of how they described it, makes some degree of sense.

The fly in the ointment is that I don't think the HSD, being both "transmission" and high-current alternator (and starter motor, but that can be ignored) can be downsized past a certain point, as it needs to be 1) at least powerful enough to contain the torque of the ICE, and 2) have enough capacity to efficiently convert the ICE's output to charge. How much mechanical advantage the HSD motors have and what their RPM/current limits are (not to mention the "sweet spot" of energy conversion in either direction) is something engineers might be able to tell us. But I suspect that the addition of the rear motor drive (with its attendant diff and universals) will not result in greater overall efficiency than simply a bigger HSD with the capacity of both motors, unlike that of the Tesla dual-motor implementation (which of course neither of which has to play a role as a transmission/alternator to an ICE).

I'm sure there will be a AWD-ish version of the Prius... but I find it hard to believe that it will be the only version, given how much Toyota struggled to reach their self-targeted 10% efficiency gain.
