We have four cars in our family, 3 toyota Prius (2005, 2008, and 2012) and a honda civic hybrid (2003) that belongs to me. The civic hybrid has been a pain in the butt ever since I can remember. Finally I have decided to trade in this car and was offered a little over $2000, the same dealer has a 2006 toyota prius with 93k miles on it. I am actually really nervous for some unknown reason. If any one owns a 2006 toyota prius, I would love to hear from you regarding your experience. I will really appreciate it. Thanks. Koushick
We just bought one two weeks ago and couldn't be happier. Ours had 120,000 miles on it but had an extremely good CarFax report. Hybrid battery had been replaced at about 90,000 miles. One owner, faithfully maintained, a used car dealer we've purchased from before and trust. We put out additional money for a big time service at 120,000 changing a lot of different fluids, put in a new 12v battery, put Michelin Energy Saver tires on it and it's been like driving a brand new car. I would say if you have service records, a clean CarFax report, etc. and the car is fairly priced it should be ok to take the leap. How much are they asking for it?
2006 Prius.. 85k miles, water pump replaced due to slight leak in the shaft seal... that's it so far as repairs... Otherwise normal maintenance e.g. oil, filter changes.
It sounds good, depending on price. That engine water pump leak is fairly common. I ran into that. If it's anything like the norm, it should be a much more satisfying ownership experience than the Civic Hybrid. Dad and I have had our '07s since new--easiest cars to own ever!
Mine is a working project, everything is falling apart, but it runs and runs. It currently has 149750 miles on it......still waiting and hoping the hv battery will crap out before it rolls over to 150000 miles
