A new event has been announced in our RSVP Event System!

The event is labeled 'iPod Integration Unit Signup' and we are currently accepting signups for this event.

<blockquote>iPod integration is finally a reality for all Prius owners! It used to be that the only Priui the Dension ice>Link system would work with were the non-navigation ones, but that has now changed. (Dension now sells their product through DICE, so there's a name change in case you get confused)

As a celebration, myself and another Prius owner, Marc Ronick, are trying to put together a group buy on the DICE iPod integration unit. The more people we have involved, the cheaper it will be for everyone. The most expensive it will be at this point is $179, but that could go drastically cheaper if more people get involved. The new DICE system includes an AUX Audio Input (for those of you without a 2006+), and has 3 different modes:
    • Simple Mode - no text through factory radio
    • Advanced Mode - 10 second intitialization lag but it does start back up the iPod where it left off and you have control via the iPod or the factory controls (steering wheel or headunit)
    • UR Mode: Locks out iPod controls, but there is no lag in the system. Still has steering wheel and headunit controls
Cradles are now an extra charge ($59.99) and won't be ready for another 3 weeks or so. They do have a few of the Dension cradles left and those will ship to the earliest buyers (I'll find out if there's an extra charge for them). But the system does include the docking cable included in the price.

And in the future there will be a cradle option for the Video iPod to output video :) Very cool!

Here is some info from the manufacturer about the system:
Factory iPod integration from DICE! Connect your iPod to your vehicle's factory entertainment system and

hear what your iPod should sound like in your car. CD-quality sound and controls from your radio, steering wheel or the iPod. Always keeps your iPod charged and ready to go. Radios supporting CD-text will also display text from your iPod allowing you to view song title and artist name right on your radio's display.

A clean factory looking installation is possible with our sleek iPod cradle and hidden installations can be done with our docking cable.

The event will be held on 5/1/2006 and we will be accepting reservations for 14 days.

I have the same question: Does this include the 2006 with navigation?

Yes, they need to update their website. It now supports navigation and non-navigation models.

One last question before i sign up... when will we be able to expect the units to be shipped/arrive on our doorstep? Only reason i ask is cause i'm moving in about a month, and wouldn't want it sent to the wrong place...

Whenever I order stuff like this I have it sent to either my parents (they live only a mile away from me) or to work. That might make it easier.

I'm interested, however, where does the docking cradle sit in the car? In the console? How does that work, exactly?

    Thanks.

Nevermind. I guess you can buy a clip and mount it virtually anywhere on the dash.

Quick question. Will this work with the JBL 6-CD system?

As far as I know, yes, this will work with the 6-disc changer. I'm waiting to hear back from Dension about a few questions, then hopefully I'll be able to answer everyone's inquiries.

I have a Highlander Hybrid 2006 Limited with Nav. Any idea if the DICE works with the HiHY? It has the JBL w/ 6 CD changer integrated with the NAV.

I could not find any infor on the DICE website. But if it works with the HiHY I am interested in signing up for one.

    thx

Definitely interested - I signed up. But want to better understand the level of control / integration offered. Also interest is pending the final price. Thanks for making us aware Danny.

Also - shouldn't this be a sticky somewhere more visible, like the main forum. Maybe it's not supposed to be there - but I just happened to stumble across the link on Priusonline - I never come into the audio forum.

    Thanks again.

Here is a list of the FAQ's so far:
    1. <span style="font-family:Arial">Usually 3-5 days via FedEx Ground. They did find a few bugs that the techs are going to finalize this weekend, but if we get our order in by next week hopefully they'll be ready.[/b]
Not sure about the HiHy - I would imagine it'll work since it's the same system as the Prius, but I can't be 100% sure. I'll ask and find out.

Thanks for all your answers. :) The last one goes back to this and I hope it won't be a problem. I plan to use the aux input for my portable XM radio. I don't care about the controls, I just want to make sure I can plug it into the aux input to make that work. I'm pretty sure it will; just have to get the correct connectors.

Plugging the XM to the AUX-in on the DICE unit should be as easy as connecting a 1/8" plug to each.
