Appears there are molded spaces in the plastic above the auxiliary battery compartment on the 2012 pip. Anyone know what these were designed to hold?
The black fabric is used to hold one end of the tonneau cover for stowage. The other end is underneath the cover on the left hand side. Don't know what the other depressions are for (don't have a PIP.)
mine are empty too. this may have been answered before, i can't remember. it might be in the manual, but that's 700 pages of searching. the other end has the air compressor. maybe the advanced has a first aid kit or something?
I have a 2012 PIP with AT option. The black velcro "cups" on right and left are for the tonneau cover stowage. The left side holds the tire compressor. The right side is empty for whatever you want to put there.
I thought it was for tire hold down strap - which you are highly unlikely to use unless you have a spare.
I have exactly the same in a UK PiP. Obviously a right handed widget fits in exactly. I keep a spare mobile phone and charging cable in mine though, as most widgets are imperial in size and here I can only find metric sized ones.
A cubby on the cargo area side will is used for a optional first aid kit available in Europe. Someone came up with a way of installing bungee straps to make it useful elsewhere. So these are likely market specific. If Prius PHV only, I'd say they are for cables or other components to the emergency generator option in Japan.
