Both my foglights have cracked glass. What's an affordable yet somewhat durable replacement ? ebay? Do these come out easily? 2007
look out for the really cheap aftermarket lights. they don't fit well and will flop around as you drive, which means your light beams bounce all over the place. but it is fairly easy to replace them.
make sure when looking at ebay the ad says DOT & SAE Approved, and you might get some that fit. I can't tell you for sure which brand is the best. other than that there are usually some genuine oem toyota fogs, but they are more $.
Its a good idea to makes sure you get fog-light replacements that have the bulb shield - it will help to reduce glare to on-coming traffic. No shield With oem-style shield
I hope this isn't an omen of things to come. We've had this car less than two weeks and something punched a hole through the lens of the driver's side fog lamp. I just went through my regular mechanic who replaced it with an OEM light. I'm definitely not a DIY guy when it comes to cars.
I can't say for certain as far as cracked fog lights in our G2 Prius, but I've had two of them 2008 and now a 2007. Both have fog lights. Both of them I put new ones in because the glass was pitted from sand..rocks..whatever. But in 60,000 miles I never cracked a foglight. It most likely depends on the roads you live on. I was in Southern Cali for the past 10 years and had both my Prius on the roads there for the last 2 years with no issues. Now that I'm in Alberta where there is a lot more debris on the road, i can only hope I'll be as lucky. I've 'heard' that if you wrap the lens with a clear vinyl that it can help reduce the impact of sand, rocks and such from cracking the fog light... something to think about since clear vinyl is so cheap and only needs a heatgun or hair dryer. You can buy it for $14 at Lamin-X or a uncut 12" x 24" clear vinyl from eBay for $2.
