My heavy oil burn is during high speed drives. 2010 with just shy of 200K. During my city trips and even in the 75mph range I have little oil burn. When I am driving cross country with higher speeds and the ICE is always on, I have heavy oil burn. Every fill up, around 450miles, I have to add about one and a quarter quarts of oil. PCV Valve was changed and no difference. I moved over to 5W-20 and the burn is a bit less but still have to add about a quart in the same amount of time.

Editorial: last "quarter" should be "quart"?

166,000....(1000 per week) Burns No Oil between changes.
I still change the oil every 5000 miles and will continue to do so.
    Castrol Synthetic.
My 2009 Corolla with 255,000 burns no oil either between 5000 mile changes.

How often you change the oil?

So please pass on the "trick"
I have a 2010 with the tech package turned to 245K yesterday. My plan is to take it to 500K because.......it's paid for. Am now using a quart per 1 K but use seems to accelerate during the 2nd 5 K of the 10K interval. Running 0-20 Toyota synthetic at the dealer and adding Mobil 0W-20 with oil useage. Fuel mileage is down too.

Besides that it still runs and drives like a new car, could not be happier. The adaptive cruise and lane keeping were pricey options $$$$$ but after 250K of mostly freeway and highway I won't have a car without those features.

    Thanks
