@Sergiospl any sound distortion that you noticed in your unit?

I found the sound to be pretty good, but not powerful. The description says 4x45w but "Bass" is on the soft side. I need to play a little bit more with the equalizer.

I do not have any distortions, but when I am on the internet, swiping and no music is playing in the background, I hear occasional "scratch" from one of the speakers.

That's what I am experiencing as well. I am planning to reverse back to stock and put it on sale.

Uh ohh... My unit hasn't arrived yet. But could there be a grounding issue? Or other correctable problem. Loose connections?

No idea my friend but when reverted back to stock I had no problems so it must be the unit.

I know nothing about electronics but might put ferrite cores on all the harness leads and see if it makes a difference when my unit arrives. Is it possible the scratching comes from the new headunit using 3 plugs instead of 4 on the original? (2011 prius two non jbl)

    A few thoughts...

    1. This is a Chinese HU and my guess is the shielding is not as robust as what we have here in U.S. Probably dont have to meet FCC standards? Those harness wires act like an antenna.
    2. The Prius has a lot of electronics, likely more than standard car. Interference more likely?
    3. I did a short test with my Nexus 7 in the Prius this morning with OBD unit plugged in. I get a lot of noise through car speakers when I have my nexus headphone jack plugged to center console jack. It is the same whether I have the nexus powered via USB to cigarette lighter. My Turn off signatures in Tapatalk the same jack does not have the same noise. This is the first time I tried my Nexus plugged in there.
    4. I've installed ham radio rigs in past cars and have some experience with interference mitigation. Ferrite cores may help. Shielding some of those leads may also help. I wonder how solid those rear jacks are on harness and HU.
    5. I would swear that I had some 'swiping' noise show up using either my nexus or iphone in the past. I wasn't able to reproduce it today. I usually connect my iphone via bluetooth to aftermarket bluetooth unit (BLU Logic) to play podcasts and use phone. For this, my radio can be off and it goes through speakers. My 2010 Prius is stock as far as speakers. No JBL. I'll do some more tests to see if I can make it happen again.

Anyway...this just had me thinking of these things. My android head unit hasn't shipped yet. Hopefully soon...I'm still excited to play around with it.

So far everything is great. Anyone know how we can attach the oem camera to this unit by using the rca?

Good thoughts, I suspect it is a shielding issue also but I can't really investigate without having my new headunit yet lol. I've been doing some reading and came across talk about the prius electronics causing interference with other installations also (different alternator, ground looping isolation, etc.). Maybe I wont experience the same issue, who knows. I wonder what the gauge of wire is on the harness and how it compares to other name brand headunits/oem wiring.

So is everyone's unit black? My trim is gray and it doesn't match

@tangokim, my unit looks exactly like yours. Looks like you also have gray trim

I have a 2012 and my interior is gray like yours. Seems like black if the only color option

I haven't had a chance to install it yet. Sometime before this weekend maybe.

    Nexus 5 ?

My unit was installed on Monday by an auto-electrician. It's a good job I used him as he did have to modify a few bits such as the aerial connector (square plug into a round hole) and mounting brackets where the holes on the sides of the unit were not quite in the right place.

On the whole it looks and works well and I'm very pleased at the upgrade from my stock radio. Setup was pretty straightforward - steering wheel buttons (left side only) were easy to program, the supplied nav (IGO), backup camera, Google Play, radio, music, video from a USB stick, bluetooth phone etc. all work well. I had the supplied mic installed just behind the steering wheel and am told it sounds fine, at least when I'm stationary. Must try it whilst driving tomorrow. My unit takes a little while to boot fully but the backup camera works almost instantly which is good as I always reverse off my drive first thing. It is paired to my phone and I've tried Google maps linked to my phone's wifi hotspot, which also worked well. I did see somewhere that the screen only dims a little when the headlights are on, so I've installed the free 'Screen Filter' app which dims it down nicely in the dark.

I'm not used to a decent car stereo/radio so the sound to me is good, but the auto electrician said it was 'about ok'! No odd noises/scratches yet through the speakers.

However my unit does not run Torque Pro properly, with problems finding useable memory in the head unit, and problems fully connecting to the adaptor, which may or may not be linked to the memory problem. I installed Torque on my phone and that works, so the adaptor is fine.

I've emailed Pumpkin about the problems and will see what they say tomorrow.
