Hi all, My name is danny, i come from the Netherlands. I drive a 2010 blue prius executive. Now i want to upgrade my audio, i got a other headunit, but a specialist told me that the rearview camera doesnt work on other headunits. So i need a high low converter for a rca output. Where is the best place to install it? Do i need to split the reardoor speaker cable? Or is there some splitter that i can put between the original iso? Also i have a empty slot in my original headunit a black one in right upper corner, where its for? Pics; The car, Windows are max % tinted 30% Hu what is the Black slot?
Probably the interface for the steering wheel buttons? assuming that the picture U posted is the OEM unit.
This is the oem radio with navigation and camera, i have nothing to put in to the Black slot, My steering wheel buttons works.
No nothing, that is the only empty one. I have a aux that doesnt work? Can it be for the aux in the arm rest? Do you know the best option to get some rca output?
If I'm not wrong, since 2007 the rear view camera output is a digital signal and not RCA (yellow) video connector will process the signal. Do a search for audio upgrades in PC and you will find the speakers audio output color code or combination for your needs.
Most people would simply buy an amplifier that has high level inputs and connect to a pair of the speaker wires coming from the factory head unit. The amp could be mounted under the seat with power wires run to the 12v battery in the back. Sometimes the new amp will have a few controls that you preset and could drive the existing speakers but most will replace the speakers in the doors at least. A separate subwoofer might be added in the back. Any audio shop could give you the options and you can spend a little (just a small amp) or more (nice speakers, big amp, sound damping and sub). Either way you end up with all the functions and control of the original factory system with more watts of power. This guy (Ultraturtle) shows a lot of his comprehensive install and has good knowledge in my opinion. Total Sound Makeover - Sound Deadening, Speakers, Processor, Amp, and Subwoofer | PriusChat His base equipment is a "sound processor (JBL MS-8) and amp (Alpine PDX-V9)" Ultraturtle also states "If I had it all to do over again, I would power the 6 speakers directly from the JBL MS-8 speaker outputs (20W ea), and use a single 100W to 300W amp for the sub."
I dont want jbl or other main stuf, I have all my equipment from my old cars, 2 mtx and 1 b2 sub, a monoblock, exide pc9000 gel accu and a headunit. But i cant use my own headunit because i lose the rearview camera. I dont gonna power the doorspeakers now, only 1 sub the b2 @ 1 ohm 1000rms. Because the stock headunit is low quality and have no options like cross filters, and lvl control Thank you, i show pics after instal. First holiday now.
