OK, so here's another collision story when the airbags didn't deploy. Going 20-25mph; oncoming car abruptly turned left into me without slowing (or signaling) going roughly 35 mph. Main impact 18 inches or so midline of left driver's side headlight. Severe damage to entire front end and left front wheel. Neither driver's door nor passenger side door could be opened; car totaled. 2008 Touring model Prius. I loved my Prius but I was severely injured in the collision. I am no expert, not sure if the airbags would have lessened my injuries, but shouldn't at least some of them have deployed? image.jpg

I would've expected the driver's airbag to deploy.

each airbag sensor is independent and regadless of time fires the signal upon the sensor sensing the change in acceleration greater than setpoint, usdually half a g, or 16 fps per sec.r

If they were made by Takata, then maybe it was a good thing they didn't go off.

I had a 2017 prius prine premium and i was tboned by someone running a red light totalling my car and leving me with horrible injuries and not one airbag deployed. I really loved my car and Im thankful im alive but im mad cause youd think i would have less injuries if my side airbags would have deployed. I may have not gotten the bruising and hematoma on the left side of my head feom it slamming against yhe door jam. Etc...
