Are you SURE you put the WS in the transaxle, and the 0w-20 in the crankcase? No mixup? :D

I think I'd scrape it off on a parking stop or a steep driveway.

You need to rig it so that it's above the skid plates and extends through a slot in the grill, somehow.

Adventures in being dumb. So here's a question for anyone who can help.

I was finishing sound deadening my doors this lovely afternoon (finished with the passenger side) and test fitting the door panel on the driver side door, so had everything unhooked (locks and wires) and the door panel fit back on with no problem. Now for my mistake, I sadly shut the door. Now I can't get the damn door to open. This was not a problem when I had tried this with the passenger side door, it opened no problem. Since I have the panel in place I can't easily get to the locking mechanism from the inside.

All the doors lock from the passenger side and trunk, using the 3 door SKS on the passenger side locks all doors (with one audible beep), unlocking I get about 10 beeps but all the doors unlock, but not the drivers door. If I try on the drivers door you can hear a sound like it's trying to unlock the doors 3-4 times but no beep and I still can't open the drivers side door. I also tried the small metal key from the FOB and that unlocks the other doors, but still can't open the drivers side.

Any suggestions other than taking it to Toyota tomorrow?

    Thanks,

    signed - Dumb

    Dude that blows.

So the actual key doesn't unlock the driver door? Have u turned it both ways?

The key lock is a mechinical lock mechanism......maybe because the sensors are looking for the driver door controls.

Try disconnecting the 12v batt.wait a few mins & try the key again

I had a set of Nismo forged wheels made by Rays that were 16 x 7 for my Pathfinder that were 14 lbs each wheel. Forged wheels can be very light because they are strong.

I tried the key both ways, as well as the double turn for all doors, it seems like it unlocks it, and unlocks all the other doors, but the handle just doesn't open it at all. I'll have to give the battery a try.

I'm wondering if the mechanical linkage (green plastic) that leads to the inner door handle (which is disconnected) is squished between the door panel and not able to move/release the latch.

    10lbs is very light..

I posted this in another thread. The Prius has had some very light wheels in previous models.. They just don't look very good..

    2001-2003 Prius
    14" wheel weighs 13 lbs

    2004-2009 Prius
    15" wheel weighs 14.3 lbs
    16" wheel weighs 15.2 lbs

The new Gen3 is much heavier..

    Plugin Prius
    15" wheel weighs 18.25 lbs

    2010-2013 Prius - NON Plugin
    15" wheel weighs 16.3 lbs,
    17" wheel weighs 24.25 lbs

Does anyone see a problem with going lighter than oem?

I second Sean's "that blows" comment.
Does the mechanical key actually turn?

If you screwed in the two screws on the door panel and if the lock isn't opening because that lock mechanism wire is somehow squished or wedged, perhaps removing those screws and pulling inward on the door panel armrest would free that wire while someone tries the key from the outside.

I talked to the dealer for a bit when I had my RPF1 programmed to the TPMS. The service rep said that my PiP wheels were designed to have a low drag coefficient, but he couldn't tell me how much lower it is compared to non-PiP wheels, or any wheel for that matter.

He's probably right, but the weight savings should offset any aero inefficiencies.

A more practical issue is that lightweight wheels tend to be weaker than heavy OEM wheels. I bent one of my RPF1 over a moderate pothole, whereas my OEM wheels just kept on trucking.

If the cable was punched, it would simulate it being connected to the handle. When u open the door, the cable doesn't move.

Maybe the white clip cable (lock/unlock) is pinched not allowing the lock mechanism to actually unlock........just a thought

The mechanical key turns freely, and seems to lock/unlock (by sound) the doors, and the other doors open. I hadn't put the two screws back in. I tried what your suggesting earlier with my wife on the outside and me pulling the panel armrest to see if that would release the wires but the door still didn't budge.

When I unlock the passenger door with the SKS it beeps about 10 times which is signaling a problem (presumably with the drivers door), but when I lock it the same way I only get one beep which is normal. If I try the SKS on the drivers door, it doesn't beep at all, but it sounds like the actuators are going back and forth about 3-4 times.

That is a definately a possibility, both cables are right next to each other.

Thanks to both of you for the help.

I really hope they don't have to destroy the door panel to get this fixed.

Upon further thought, and looking at pictures of where the cables are located relative to the door handle position, I think that is exactly whats happening. I have a layer of MLV (mass loaded vinyl) with some CCF (closed cell foam) on back. The CCF is very squishy and I can Imagine with the door panel in place pushing on the MLV and squishing the CCF over the top of the cables locking them in place. Usually not a problem once the cables are put through the MLV, but unfortunately since I was just test fitting I didn't do that.

I'm hoping I can use my dremel to cut some of the MLV/CCF away through the small openings in the handle, then try to fit in an offset screwdriver to get enough leverage to separate it from the door giving the cables a chance to move a bit more freely.

    Ugh, life is fun sometimes.

As if working with MLV isn't a big enough PITA, eh?
Good luck tomorrow with the dealer's tech, hope they can pop open the door easily.

I was commenting on the "Added Advanti Racing Wheels 10.6 lbs with stock tires. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" post. 15+14for the tire=28 sounds more accurate vs 10.5... I have Forged Volks on my Prius right now...And the Advanti's that were mentioned are flowformed. Not Forged.
