This happened several times on my way home today.
    Car: 2013 Prius v Three
Symptom: Bluetooth connects and works but then stops after a couple minutes. The Bluetooth Settings screen indicates "Bluetooth Off" at this point but will not turn back on if I press the button that should toggle it. All other options on the settings screen are dimmed out.

Troubleshooting: I rebooted the phone to no avail. I rebooted the car at a stoplight. Bluetooth connected for a short bit and then the same thing happened. I pulled over, deleted all Bluetooth pairings from the car, Deleted the pairing from my phone, re-paired everything. It downloaded contacts and such. Started playing Bluetooth Audio, Worked with Entune (Pandora played). After a minute or so, it all stopped again.
Car has been sitting for a few hours so I just went out and tried it again to find it does the same thing.

Previously I've had no issues at all with this. I did get a new phone (Galaxy S5) about a month ago and it's worked flawlessly since. Nothing was changed between my commute this morning when it worked properly (My wife called me as I pulled into the parking garage) and this evening.

    Thoughts?
I'm getting ready to go find the purchase paperwork to see if I purchased extended warranties or not. Is there a complete system reset of the MFD somewhere? I'd hate to go back to the beeping while reversing if that's involved but it's better than not having Bluetooth.

    Thanks,

I have a very similar situation! In fact, I just registered on this forum, hoping to find a solution. I have a 2013 Prius V with Nav and Entune. When I bought the car, I had a Samsung Galaxy S2. Everything worked beautifully for over two years. Now I have upgraded to a Galaxy S6, and I'm having very similar behavior that you describe. If I manually go through the procedure of connecting the phone, it works ok for a while. Then I stop and go in a store or something, come back out, and I get the Bluetooth Off thing and it's not connecting. Also: With my old phone, everything just worked automatically. Now I find that I have to manually start the Entune app. Is that really necessary?

    Suggestions appreciated.

Bluetooth off on your phone or the car? Mine is the car. If the phone, perhaps a power saving setting?
Regarding Entune, Toyota somehow made a stupid decision in a recent update and it doesn't autostart when the phone is rebooted. If you look in the reviews in the Play store, a guy has an app that he set up to launch it for him. No clue why Toyota stopped it. I think because people complained about battery drain (I never had that problem).

To add detail to my issue:
I turned off Bluetooth on my S5 and paired my Wife's Motorolla. It worked fine so I've eliminated the car as the issue. As soon as I reconnected my S5, it crapped out again.

I've just factory reset my S5 and we'll see what it does on my commute tomorrow. Quite inconvenient but my car is a mobile office so I can't do without hands free.

I have the same issue. I never had a problem with the S4 but now that I upgraded to an S6, the bluetooth connection is not consistent. It cuts in and out even when I am on a call. I had my dealership do a firmware update and it didn't seem to make a difference. I would love to see a solution.

My other gripe is that the voice dialing no longer recognizes my commands and is always picking the wrong contact. I never had that problem with my old phone. I could live with this one if only I could solve the other issue

Butchbs1985, yes it's the bluetooth on the car that randomly decides that it is OFF, and will not let me turn it back on. After re-starting the car, it usually works again, at least for a while. This is all so unreliable now that I can't depend on it, even for phone calls. It's a crazy situation, since it is not clear whether the phone or the entune is the problem. My thinking is that it is an incompatibility between the two. I did upgrade the firmware when I first encountered this issue, but it has not helped. I *could* reset my phone, but like I said, it is a brand new S6! I have my doubts whether that would matter. What's the best way to pursue this with Toyota? Should I go to my dealer? I have never had any previous issues with any of the electronics on the Prius (or anything else for that matter!).

After a hard reset the same thing happened. Tested with my Boss's S5 that was purchased at the same time as mine and it doesn't have the issue either. I'm on the phone with AT&T right now and they are sending me a replacement phone. Will report back once I've gotten the replacement and have thoroughly tested.

I am having the same issues with my S4. I suspected the phone but I can't understand why the phone would have anything to do with the inability to toggle the car Bluetooth back on.

I'll definitely report back when I get my replacement device. Yes I agree that it's hard to believe that it could be the phone causing the car Bluetooth to seemingly lock up. The best theory I have is that something in the Bluetooth communication is tripping a bug somewhere in the car's Bluetooth. More than likely the true issue actually lies in the car but I don't have a Bluetooth headset to ensure that it actually works with something other than the car.

I know other vehicles that have issues with newer phones but hope this is a fluke with my device!

I'm taking the replacement phone route since mine is only a month old and was easy to get replaced.

After a day of using the new phone I can report no Bluetooth issues. I haven't installed Entune yet but see no reason why it'd make a difference. If it breaks once I install Entune I'll report back though I can't think why it would since the old phone didn't work even with it uninstalled. I also didn't restore from the Google backup when I reconfigured the new device. Just in case...

So, I'm having the exact same problem with my new S6 Galaxy smart phone. My S4 worked fine. I just uninstalled Entune. I have a 2012 Prius V 3. The Bluetooth connection is intermittent at best. Calls or music are affected to the point I'm ready to take the phone back to Verizon. I really just want an update from Toyota. I've been to Samsung's Best Buy and my Toyota dealer. I've paired/ unpaired, deleted devices, etc. Nothing has worked so far. I will update after this post when I return to my vehicle now that Entune has been deleted from my phone... Thank you

I spoke to the Bluetooth experts at Toyota and they said that there will be a firmware update at the end of July that might fix the problem.

I just left Toyota to see if I did have the latest firmware. They said it was not in their possession and they're ordering a new one. They'll call me when it comes in. In the meantime, I deleted the Entune from the phone but that did not matter problem still occurring.

Thank you for your reply Ilene! I'll keep you all posted as to what my next course of action will be.

I need to get a new phone and I am looking at the S6. Any thoughts on changing what phone I get or wait for Entune update?

Thank you butchbs1985! I did go to the Play Store and downloaded and installed Bluetooth Autostart. See uploaded files
Until the firmware update from Toyota this seems to be correcting the issue. As for ewkappas' question...the phone is amazing; the battery life is far superior to S4 and the processor is fast! Photos are ridiculously clear and sharp. Phone is truly remarkable. Technology (Toyota, Verizon, etc.) just needs to keep up with the latest devices from Samsung. Seems like Apple has everyone on board before releasing new technology...just saying.

I was sure it was the fault of the S6. Music stored on my phone and played via Bluetooth to my Prius, Pandora via Entune and Bluetooth to my Prius, Live365 via 4G network and Bluetooth to my Prius, all work fine with my old S3. Worked fine with my new S6 for a while. Starting in early May, the connection would fail every few minutes. My S3 still works with it - so I blamed the S6. Samsung was nice enough to replace my S6. The new one seemed to work for a few weeks - now has the same symptoms as the old S6.
Could it be the radio design is weak and just fails on many S6 phones? This discussion leads me to believe probably not.
Entune's fault? I don't think so. Entune is still doing its job just fine with my S3.
Samsung's fault? Maybe they could have done further homework (mobile lab-work?) and tested the S6 with every equivalent of Entune and every automobile make and model and year that uses Entune or equivalent. How many would that be?
I'll watch this thread and see if a solution gets published.

Wanted to update everyone...the latest firmware from Toyota is already installed within my vehicle.

So still no solution from Toyota yet the Play Store's Bluetooth Auto Start (see above) has remedied the Samsung Galaxy S6 operational in spite of the very average Entune media/entertainment/gps system.

I have the same problem but it did not happen until I upgraded to the Entune 5.1

When I had Entune 2.1, everything was working fine.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 with Sprint and the most current Android upgrade.

Well, in the next few days I'll be doing the update and I'll keep you in the loop if it works without the brilliant Auto Start for Android version 1.05 from Jolly Shields.
    Stay tuned...;)

Maybe the issue is with the Android version or the phone firmware? I have a T-Mobile S4 running Android 4.4.4 (updated via Samsung Kies software) and Entune 5.1, previously Entune 3.2. I have had none of the above issues...
