Little background, I have a 2005 Prius that i've had since 55K that now has 114K on it. I have never had to replace the battery so it could possibly be that but this morning I received the red exclamation and this weird D symbol. It could be my googling skills suck but I searched all over and nothing came up, might be due to character limitation.
It’s headlight leveling system fault indication. I think the picture is pretty clear there is headlight with the light coming from it and arrows indicating the adjustment of light height. Red triangle and warning yellow symbols | PriusChat
Automatic headlight levelling system warning light (page 125 and 127 in Owners Manual). The graphic's a stylized headlight symbol. I believe it'll be related to this linkage and sensors at the rear suspension cross beam: detects ride height. Either the linkages seize up or the electronics on sensor wear out.
Feel like a jackass and noob now haha thought it had something to do with the Drivetrain but makes sense now. Appreciate the quick responses, long time lurker of the site and you guys do a great job on here.
And I'm all stoked, high-fiving myself, doing little dance. It wears off, I lurk again. There's a thread here (or linked at least) somewhere, a guy managed to open up the sensor, rejuvenate it. It's electro-mechanical, with some copper brushes or something, subject to wear. It could also be just the linkages needing lubrication. That'd be nice. If it's the sensor at fault, it's typical Toyota price I think, higher than reasonable.
haha thanks Mendel! In case anyone else finds this thread in the future now that I did a little research this link was found from this site and was very helpful. 2004 Prius Headlight Height Sensor
