When using the GPS in my 2015 PPI, I find that the default choice for which route is shows me is "Preferred". I never want that, I always want "Short". But I cannot figure out how to change the default to "Short", so I have to manually choose that each time.

Is there any way I can change the default Route Preference to "Short"?

I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to guide me around a traffic jam, and I have had the car for two years... If someone knows either answer, I would be grateful!

    Try the following:

After a route is entered, press "Route" then "Preferences". There you can choose "Quick", "Short", or "Alternate" as well as set preferences for toll roads, freeways, border crossings, ferries and so on. This should be permanent (As opposed to pressing "3 Routes" from the main screen which is only temporary for the current route guidance)

7" HDD or DVD-Based Denso units

SETUP --> Navi --> Detailed Navigation Settings --> Auto Avoid Traffic (turn it on).

6.1" Display Audio w/ Navigation (Harmon Kardon units)

DEST --> Route Options --> Dynamic Reroute (Change from "manual" to "automatic")

I have the 6.1 in a 2013, if I understand, this will only work if I use Bing for the route with the Traffic App working? I greatly appreciate this reply. I use my car for work, and often I am not familiar with the area I am in. THANKS!

ohh? I'm not sure. It should work whether you use Bing or DEST (built-in) to navigate to a destination.

Traffic rerouting will only occur under route guidance (i.e. you're navigating to a place). If you're just driving around, it doesn't know where you're going it won't tell you where to go. However, I believe the 6.1" DA units allow you to see the traffic information in a set radius (radius is customisable) around your current location in list/table form.
