<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Salsawonder @ Apr 4 2006, 02:37 PM) </div> And WHAT pray tell, do you want me to make the mulch out of. it isn't COMPOST! Ok, your right, my dog does go outside in the fenced in back yard. My cocoa mulch is in the front. AND, sorry, but you let your dog run in my yard, sorry about your luck. I don't mean to be mean, but c'mon.......I would do NOTHING if I was worried about every possible danger.

Yikes.. ORANGE MULCH... I can't stand the black mulch and the red mulch. I just like the plain cedar mulch that we get around here. I still have a hard time convincing my spouse that mulch is a good thing. She claims it smothers the roots. This is despite her sister, also a Master Gardener (Cornell Coperative Extension) and TV shows such as Paul James, on Gardening by the Yard (who I just hate missing on weekends) proclaiming the benefits of mulch for soil errosion and weed control.. not to mention moisture retention. I had never heard that about the cocoa mulch... I wonder if it's the same effect that eating chocolate is toxic to dogs.. sound plausible.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Red Ginger @ Apr 20 2006, 05:48 AM) </div> Why thank you It is a lot of work, but it is how our family spends time together, not to mention relieving a lot of stress. Mulch is a very, very good thing when applied in the correct amount. It's the additives in the processed commercial mulch that is not very good, other than eye candy.
Woo Hoo I need some of that coaco mulch for around the mail box   The rubber colored mulch is big here, but is $$$ . The pest control guys will tell you not to mulch up to the foundation of your home as this let the subterrainian termites a way in, your supposed to leave at least a 6" gap. other mulches that are popular here is the cedar, pine, ucoliptus & pine needles..... I have seen plenty of northern transplants that have every inch of the yard pulled up then a weed barier put down then rocks that come in colors: green, brown, grey, white, blue, fuisha & black... Why those colors <gag> but you can mulch here its 94* outside....

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Godiva @ Apr 20 2006, 09:59 PM) </div> Yes, I just didn't know if the hull would have the same chemical as the bean. Maybe there is enough if the dog ate enough. I understand it's the same thing with chocolate... that the dog would have to eat quite a bit to have an effect, proportional to the size of the dog
