I got a good deal on a 2007 with electrical problems here in NY that a small dealer with no hybrid experience gave up on.
Watch for a deal on a 2nd generation Prius with a transaxle or traction battery issue.

Were you able to identify and resolve the problems?

Yes, I diagnosed the HV ground fault was coming from the traction battery and my local Toyota dealership confirmed my diagnosis.

It is at the dealer now getting a new traction battery under CARB warranty.

The previous owner was told it was a $4000 transaxle repair and warranty coverage was never suggested.

you can buy it and sell for parts if it costs too much to repair:

    battery: $500
    seats: $500

    and the cvt transmission.

why do you want a totaled abused 8 yr old taxi?
I doubt it has a clean title and being hit on that side the CVT is most likely damaged...
for the cost of the body work, batteries,AC work, air bags and anything else it needs you can find a nice one running and driving with higher miles but not branded a taxi..$500 maybe, $1500 no way
