58,000 miles. Slight "rattle" - very low noise level -coming from area around the glove boxes, or passenger front door, or from outside the car.. Anyone else with this situation?
Not that loud. I occasional hear seat belt against the pillar - my problem noise is a noise that can be overcome if the radio is playing at moderate volume.
there are a ton of threads here on different rattles. tough to guess at. try holding the glove door and other areas to see if it stops. a lot has been solved by adding felt between plastic surfaces.
There's even a thread about the bracket holding the air intake hose at the front passenger side of the engine bay rattling in the mounting hole and transmitting the sound through the fender into the passenger compartment.
I've got the same rattle I believe on my 2011. I drove a 2010 Prius that was in the shop for the same rattle, theirs a lot worse than mine, it was diagnosed as the glove box strut (right side holding the glove box open). I've been since playing around with it on my own vehicle...cannot tell if that is exactly it or not. I wasn't able to drive the other Prius after the repair. That's what a tech told me. Mine only happens when cruising on EV power, then slightly pushing the gas pedal, the ICE turns on, the rattle will appear, 20-35mph. Only when pedal is pressed slightly. Rattles are the worst.
BINGO! You nailed it. I just did a test drive after sticking little round green felt pads around the lower glove box strut until it could not move laterally. Noise is gone. thanks for the clue.
This sounds a lot like the problem I'm having! A week ago I opened the glove box for the first time in a long time and the problem started soon after. Did not put that together until now! Gonna look into it in the morning.
I have a rattle that sounds as if it comes from the glove box lid. Actually, it apparently comes from the loose attachment of the bottom rear of the flying buttress near the front of the center console box.
