I have this problem also on an 05, but in my case no sunscreen was involved, just the elbow of my leather jacket and occasionally my arm. I am also noticing unusual wear under the key slot where my other keys dangle, but in that case the outer layer of veneer is coming off, where on the door, the pinkish-purplish-grey layer of veneer is "perforating" in the dealer's words, it's actually looking like it's melted as it peels to reveal the black plastic underneath.

For those who have had success getting this fixed, what did you have to go through with the dealer? I took mine in to my Chicagoland dealer yesterday and they said first the service manager would need to be consulted, now they want the district manager to look at it when he comes to town next, and they can't tell me when that will be. So far, they're not contesting the fact that it's unusual wear, and I'm not in a great hurry to get this fixed, but on the other hand, I'd like to get it fixed with minimal inconvenience to me. Suggestions welcome.

    Thanks,

    Bob

This will work great on the textured grainly plastic, but DO NOT use these on anything that has a gloss or that smooth rubbery plastic on the dash fronts and the tops of the door sills, it will scratch these surfaces.

top of door sills? which part would that be? I use it on the beige part of the door sill (i.e. not the one with the black protector).

BTW, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works AMAZING on white shoes...

I never even thought to use it in a car. May have to give it a try....

If you're talking about Chicago Northside Toyota, I would choose a different dealer. I have had nothing but problems with them and ended up going to a different dealer to make my purchase. Good luck!
