The other day I went to start my 2010 Prius, and even though the car sat overnight, it said, Hybrid system over heat. The car started ok. I drove to work, then tried to start the car again, same thing, but still started. Drove home, next morning it said Parking brake lock out. Did some research and found that this happens when the 12 volt battery is low or going bad. I put a volt meter on mine and it read 10 volts. Replaced battery, not all is working fine. $175.00 at parts store. No more odd readings
Good to know. Don't you love the car's to-the-point warning messages? Maybe if you leave a door ajar it'll tell you it's lost communication with MG1, lol.
I'm guessing you mean "Now All Is Working Fine"? Yep, check the 12 volt is a echoing refrain within Prius Chat. To the point that I think The Prius Shop should sell T-Shirts that say it. Or perhaps Toyota should think about building in a warning light that illuminates when the 12 volt consistently starts to perform at a diminished level. The Prius doesn't give you the "normal" warnings you get with regular ICE that denote your 12 volt battery is failing.
After sitting for four months, I tried to start it, and got a very weak "Check Engine" light. It was still there, so I just jumped it and it started right up. Didn't loose any set points on radio, etc. Took it for a 15 min drive to get a little charge and all is well.
