Surprisingly I just received a Toyota survey asking for my opinion and preference on CarPlay and other such systems. Perhaps someone within Toyota hasn't given up the fight for a state-of-the-art connectivity system.

I know I'm in the minority, and I doubt Toyota is reading but I will not buy a car that doesn't have CarPlay.

I just need a basic system that works and is convenient. The current entune crap sucks and the menu system of the head unit is horrible. Nissan navigation is very convenient and easy to manuever through. If Toyota can just make it work as easy as that, I wouldn't need any android or apple crap.

Perhaps OP did not notice the name of the website he quotes: Mac rumors
Second, absolutely nothing prevents owners from installing whatever entertainment system they want.

    Calm down

Tim Cook announced on March 9th: "I'm pleased to announce today that every major car brand has committed to delivering CarPlay."

I don't know about you but I consider Toyota to be a major car brand, haha.

Also, the bottom of the CarPlay page at apple.com now shows the Toyota logo: Apple - CarPlay

I installed Apple CarPlay into my wife's Honda Fit. Pretty nifty

This is actually pretty big. Toyota's decision to use their own system will cost them many, many sales. The Bolt is looking better every day.

It doesn't look like any of the aftermarket head units will fit inside the Prius. Am I correct? I checked pioneer and doesn't like it as being an option, because I would probably do it considering how entune sucks.

Of possible relevance to this discussion is Toyota's decision to join forces with Livio, a Ford Motor Company subsidiary, for the implementation of SmartDeviceLink (SDL) technology in future Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
