I am the proud owner of my second Prius (2015) and am leaving the country for 2 weeks. My car will not be driven. I've never left a Prius sitting for that long, and am wondering if the traction battery will still be alive when I return. I'm new to the forum, but my husband was an active participant for years, which is why I know that all of you wonderful people are here. Would one of you share your experience/knowledge/expertise with me? Thanks SO much. AR Walk
The hybrid battery will be fine. The 12 volt probably will be fine too. To allay your concerns, and it is a good investment for the future, get a smart charger, the kind that are fine to leave connected indefinitely, and leave it hooked up for the duration of your vacation. I'd recommend CTEK 3300, which I have/use, but there's lots of choices.
As I recall, at least with the second generation, the Prius was shipped with one of the fuses removed. Your dealer's service department might point out which one to remove. The possible problem is that there are various drains on the 12 volt aux battery when the Prius is idle and the aux battery is not all that large.
i leave my car for 5 weeks every winter. as long as your 12 volt has never been run down, no worries. have a great trip!
