I just got my Prius interior footwell lighting yesterday that I ordered from Sigma Automotive. First, I'd like to thank Areometer for all the countless questions that I've asked prior to order. He answered them swiftly and without fuss. I installed them this morning. I'd say the hardest part is removing the centre plastic (that big curvy piece one below the dashboard on the centre hump). Why? Cause I couldn't actually remove it. I ended up stuffing the wire for the passenger side under it and just wiggling the wire around, trying to get the maximum length. Other than that, the installation is pretty straightforward. The Japanese instructions have comical illustrations about what to do and what not to do. The pdf file on Sigma Automotive's site that has the English instructions is quite good and the pictures are clear. The light itself is fairly bright but depending on how you orient the light, it may or may not be as bright as you want it to me. Here are some pictures:

That does look nice, now people can see how dirty your fancy all-weather mats are at night too! Out of curiousity since I don't have my Prius yet... Do the interior lights fade off when you close the door or turn the car on or something? I think I read a previous post about replacing interior lights with LED's and losing the fading effect, but my question is: do the footwell lights fade with the interior lights?
They go off 15 seconds after the dome lights fade out. They come on whenever the dome lights come on (e.g. when you approach the car or when you open the door or when you turn off the car)
I bought some lights at KMart for $9. They are blue and plug into the cigarette lighter but I have the wires neatly fed back into the center plastic so you can't even tell. I use the plug in the center console to charge my phone anyway so it doesn't matter. I was thinking of "hardwiring" it to the power outlet but I haven't had the ambition to do it because it works fine the way it is. I'll post pics later.

They are held on with some springs and will pop off. No function other than looks, and it's rumored that they improve aerodynamics slightly. However many folks on this board have taken them off and noticed no difference in mileage.
