Wed's wheels vs Sction TC vs Stock comparo

    Acceleration testing using G-tech accelerometer (10 runs each, 66 deg, 2150 ft density altitude):
    0-60 MPH:
    Stock 15" wheels/tires: 10.64 sec
    Scion TC 17/stock: 10.78 sec
    Wed's TC005 16x7/Firestone GTA: 10.45 sec

    Fuel Economy:
    Stock (20K mile avg): 47.3 MPG
    Scion TC (11K mile avg): 42.2 MPG
    Wed's TC005 (half tank so far): 47.5 MPG - not enough data yet

    Very intersting results. Faster 0-60 with the Wedsports...

    I may have to order those wheels sooner rather than later. Just need to sell the stockers and the tC's now. THe stacks of wheels/tires in my garage is growing too large! :lol:

    Possibly the only reason the wedsports were quicker was due to less wheel slippage off the line. The stock wheels/tires slip a bit, inducing the traction control to kick in thus reducing power for about 1/10th second or so. I haven't got any good highway data yet to determine if overall mileage numbers are appreciably different. I have noticed a sizable gain over the Scion TC rims which were destroying my mileage numbers. Usually I'd be refilling my tank at 375 miles with a single flashing gas bar, now I've gone that far and still have 2 bars to go.

    p.s. I had great luck selling my used scion rims to a toyota recycler. I've got a deal worked out to get at least one extra inverter and possibly an entire hybrid drive train in trade for extra parts I have at home :)

    I was also looking for some rims and tires of my 06. I was looking at the Lotus Elise's wheels and like the look alot. I went to www.tirerack.com and found rims for the Lotus. The rims are SSR Competition 16x6.5. These rims look like they will fit the Prius. and I think they look great. They are only 11 lbs :D and cost $320 each :( . I also found tires which are only 18.6 lbs each for $61.00 :D . These are Kumho ECSTA ASX 195/50WR16. I was wondering if anyone else has seen these or purchased them and if they had what do they think.

    Looks real good, but those tires are 3.5% smaller than stock. I don't know whether or not that will affect anything too badly, but your speedo will display 4% faster than it should... mileage numbers on MFD will probably look REAL good, but won't be anywhere close to accurate.

    Close, but the stock Scion combo was slightly larger by about 1.2% or so. The difference between the 195/55/16s and the stockers is less than .1% I wonder if effectively gearing the car down a little with smaller wheels results in better accel and slightly improved economy?

    OK, now I'm seeing results. On my weekly 240 mile Vegas commute I've been averaging 45.9 MPG while cruising at 70-72 with the air on medium-low. I was getting just above 42 with the Scion rims under similar conditions and maybe a smidge higher with the stockers. Pictures of my new 16x7 Weds attached...

    Larger diameter tires will make the computer think you've travelled less distance than you actually have, thus it will report mileage that is worse than it is. Smaller diameter tires will do the opposite. You need to know the %age circumference difference between the stock and aftermarket tires to adjust the mileage.
