2015 Auris availability?

    Hi all,
    Talked to my local (Finland) Toyota dealer today and he said the 2015 "facelifted" Auris should be on display and available for test-drive around the last week of June and the first cars delivered first week of August.

    Any other news about the new Auris? will it be available sooner in the UK where it is made?

    facelifted auris was shown at geneva motor show.

    the cosmetic updates are OK I guess... but not that important for me.
    more soundproofing sounds good :)
    "the hybrid powertrain has been tweaked to deliver lower CO2 emissions and better fuel economy" - but no numbers mentioned.

    apparently they are selling it already in Japan

    If you google for "What’s changed for the 2015 Toyota Auris?" you will find toyotas own blog post on the changes (sorry forum doesn't allow be to post links..)

    not so sure that the new AC controls are any better than the old ones. Also how well does the blue theme for lights on the nav and elsewhere work when it is dark? There's a reason for ships/airplanes etc. using shades of red for instruments and cockpits at night...

    Apparently this car is called the Scion iM in the USA - not sure if it will be offered with the Prius powertrain or not.
    Maybe someone over here can comment about the similarity between Auris and Lexus CT200h ? Seems like the CT200h should be due for an update also? Although at least over here they price the CT200h quite significantly above the Auris.

    I test-drove the current Auris hatchback and while the interior feel is not as polished as a Golf Mk7 I do like the HSD drivetrain much more than the TSI turbo + DSG on the golf. The steering on the auris is very light which is fine for city driving - but hopefully doesn't take away too much feel when you would need it (gravel roads, snow, ice?).
    I also test-drove the Yaris with a 1.5-liter hybrid drivetrain, but that felt a bit too small with short wheelbase, and a feeling of all bumps etc. transmitted via the front-wheels through the floor. Also heavier/normal steering feel compared to Auris. The Yaris hybdrid doesn't get much better fuel economy figures than the Auris.

    The Auris is not a drivers car like the Golf, but it's horses for courses. If you enjoy throwing your car around country lanes at speed, then get a Golf. If you commute through busy city streets and prefer to arrive relaxed than enthused, then get the Auris HSD.

    It also has the auto gearbox and does get great economy if driven in a relaxed manner.

    And that's before we get onto emissions.

    This video says 79g CO2/km, about 8% down from the current spec of 86 g CO2/km

    Maybe the new front has improved a bit the aereodinamic, at least in the unreliable European test cycle. They declared an improvement in mpg just adding a couple of "ears" to the rear of the first grade, six month after introducing the MY2013.
    Auris new orders has been stopped since the last month, waiting for the pricelist of the new MY2015.

    I don't believe a single word of it.

    The existing Auris is meant to get better than the Prius yet reports on the UK hybrid forums are that it doesn't, and by quite a margin. The Yaris HSD is meant to better them both and guess what, that is worse than the Auris. The Prius is still the most economical probably because of it's aerodynamic profile and higher profile tyres.

    Toyota EU are tuning their cars to the bent official tests, effectively cheating in that they are allowed to remove weight, tape up gaps and grills, run the car without oil etc etc. The tests are a total joke. At least previously they were just achievable in perfect conditions, whereas now they're just without any basis and you're unlikely to get anywhere near the results.

    I guess it was going to happen when you allow the manufacturer to do the tests themselves and they're also under threat of large fines if they don't reduce fuel consumption. Unfortunately by cheating, sorry I meant manipulating the figures and following everyone else, Toyota are letting their customers down as nobody believes their economy figures any more.

    I don't believe at any value from European cycle tests, from any firm :)

    ??? On spritmonitor.de Auris and Prius are on par, and the Yaris is a bit better (I think mainly for the less wasteful S1a)

    You're right, but the same thing is done by all the other car firms. It's a race to which one cheats better :)

    The Scion iM will not be offered in a hybrid powertrain (and no Scion will according to Toyota)

    On "whatcar", they say that the updated 2015 Toyota Auris will reach the UK later this summer in both hatchback and estate forms.

    We have a change of registration year in September (don't ask - long story) and manufacturers will often release a new model about a month before this. Toyota are also offering amazing deals on the Auris (non hybrid models) as they keep sending me emails and texts.
