Just got my new Prius and have question about the hybrid system display. We have gotten stuck in 2 traffic jams and the hybrid battery display has gone down to 2 bars. Is this normal? Once we can drive at regular speed it went back up to 80%. Just wondered if getting that low is ok? Will it ever go to 0 or 1 bar? If it does is there something you need to do? My 2011 never went down to 2 bars. Thanks for helping a nervous owner.
I have a 2011 and I have about 1/2 a mile or so of 12 mph speed limit in my neighborhood. My engine starts when I get down to 2 bars, not 3.
Anytime you're in low speed and/or low load, it'll happily run the battery down, to two bars. Normally it isn't that protracted, but when it happens it happens. Happens to me every time we're spiralling up through this parking garage: low speed coupled with moderate uphill load. We've got a 2010.
