    yep - every maker of tire pressure sensors says the same thing, the slime will take 'em out. Seems like one of those emergency donut tires is better than killing tire pressure sensors. Maybe it's a liability thing. Some numbskulls can't work a scissors jack to save their life, and if a car falls off an improperly used jack and crushes a hand or foot, you know how society works now days. Instant lawsuit. Come to think of it, no wonder they've done away with the spare.

    A couple of lightweight wheel chocks (stipulated in Owners Manual, but never included) and a small square of wood (to spread the scissor jack load on soft earth) help a lot when using the scissor jack.

    Every owner should take the scissor jack out, give it a try. Toyota's iteration is toward the crappy end, the linkage between the extension rod and the jack's eye is near hopeless.

    the worst part is, even with toyota slime, they still require you to jack up the car. otherwise, they wouldn't have provided the chinese jack either. can you imagine the agony of having to provide an extra 12 ounces and 25 cents?

    Recently some pictures were posted of the next generation Prius and PiP; for example, see here or here. Anybody knows whether these are correct? Prius Team?

    I've got 2 PIP and I live in NC. Bought one in Virginia and the second one in SC. The first owner of the one I bought in SC originally bought it in Virginia.

    With only about 11 miles EV I don't see the PIP selling well outside of places that don't make extensive use of HOV lanes. A PIP really doesn't make much sense unless you make a lot of short trips or can use the HOV with 1 person in the car.

    I think the new one will be at least 15 miles ev. I'm hoping for at least 20. One thing I do realize as an avid driver of both regular and plugin prii is that the pip gets 5-10% better mpg consistently . So even going beyond 11 (or 13 in my case) it's still nice to drive. There are a lot of times I break or roll back to 0.8 miles ev

    The links in the post earlier on this page indicate maybe only 13 miles EV. I do agree that the better mpg of the PIP even without plugging it in is nice but it's not a reason to buy one, at least an economical reason. A PIP will never pay for itself over a regular Prius except in very rare circumstances. I've got 2 because I got them at a price that wasn't much different then buying a comparably equipped regular Prius.

    I'd love to have a Prius with at least a 50 mile EV range. It's coming but not for a long time. Eventually all cars will be all electric but not in my lifetime.

    I'd buy the model with 50 EV miles with 40 mpg gas efficiency. Oh wait, that's the 2016 Volt. I'm done knocking on your door, Toyota.

    25 mile EV range and 55 MPG hybrid sounds perfect for me. I hope the battery can be fitted without compromising cabin storage space.

    If I could somehow convince my workplace to let me charge, my family liquid fuel consumption would drop to about 0.6 gallons a week.

    Re: free HOV, believe CA is the only state that applies to for PiP. Other states like VA, NY have some free HOV but it is not exclusive to plug-ins (regular hybrids can join in). Of course I am guessing 60%+ of PiPs were sold in CA.

    I like the PiP concept as it stands the proposed new PiP has inductive charging I can see puttting charger on garage floor.

    The first 2 are great choices for me. I for one, am not interested in carrying too much battery. Just imagine how much battery(Kwh, weight) is needed for that 60 hybrid mpg.

    Does the Prius PHV get that 70mpg with no plugging in at all? I believe Greg_M's point is that while a PPI can get higher MPGs than the regular one without a grid charge, it isn't enough of an increase to warrant paying extra for; that it needs HOV access for someone to pay the extra cost and never plug it in.

    The 13 miles in the second link is an error. 50 km on JC08 will probably result 20-21 miles on EPA cycle.
