Hello Prius Chat, I have a 2007 Prius. I turned on the AC for the first time this spring last week and the air blowing out of the vent was ambient temperature. When I looked through the sight glass with the AC running, it looks like there's fluid in there, but it's not moving anywhere and the evaporator pipe did not feel cool. I also replaced the 12 V battery a few months ago, with an optima yellow top battery. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with the AC? Will a recharge do it fix this, or did I mess something up with the battery. There were a lot of warnings about "resetting" the system after you have the 12V out, but I didn't seem to have any problems that were described as symptomatic of needing a reset. Thanks
I don't think the battery could affect a/c, but 1st thing to do is check your fuses-- sometimes fuses just fail. if all the fuses are ok, then you might want to have the pressures checked, and recharge with dye if the system is low. definitely add dye if its low because it makes it easy to find a small leak which is almost impossible to find with one of those old junk sniffers.
Sounds like the compressor is not running. Are you real sure that the panel settings were at a point where it should run.......like set as cold as you could ??
