This is the question when I am doing the oil change few days ago. The prius seems very low, and the front jack position seems very deep from the front. I can't even get my jack stand under that spot. Well, technically yes but I can't raise it. I finally jack it up just from the side. Do you guys have the same issue and how do you deal with it? I can think about one solution is drive my c to tire block first and jack up from there. Any better idea? iPad ?
You can get the jack under there, but can't raise it? Why, because the jack handle's so far under it bangs the car underbody before it starts making pressure? None whatsoever? If so try a longer jack? 3 tons typically are a good level. With out 3rd gen regular, the rear jacking point is a long reach under, the first few strokes are very short, due limited headroom. In the interim, running the front wheels up onto a pair of 2x8's might be enough, to gain needed clearance.
Thanks for your thread! I got the same question here. I was afraid to ask more questions on my thread because it made me the only person with the problem and look stupid. Now I know there's at least one more person got the exact problem I've had.
Right, the rear jack stand point is good. The problem is front one and front one is more needed due to the oil change and maintenance. 3ton may work, I do have one from Costco but my 2 ton is smaller and handy. Prius c donent have a lot clearance. My issue is if I put to the right spot, I can't use the jack handle to jack it up, the clearance is low to jack up. I will try to put the jack from the side, maybe behind the front wheel to see if I can jack up from there.
Hello! I have two tips. 1) Do not jack it up at all for oil change. (On Prius C oil drain plug is right behind passenger wheel. And oil filter also can be easily reached. There is no need in going under the car at all. I owe Prius C 2014 and I normally don't jack my car up when I change oil.) 2) Use ramps. (I personally use ramps for any jobs which don't require wheels off the ground. IMHO it is safer in the case of sudden earthquake.)
