I know I had the "Privlage" Tuesday of driving from Saginaw to Livonia and i got stuck in Detroit morning ruch hour. I filled up just before i left saginaw and resat the MFD. I had a 52 MPG average for the round trip. I then continued to drive on the same tank and succeeded in getting my first 400+ tank. Today when I filled up I had gone 435 Miles and Used 9.39 gal or 46 MPG Yea Spring :D

    Same story here in Minnesota.

You know it's Spring when the MPG average climbs above 50.

I have the same MPG increase from 41, 45, 47 and 49 for only three-month driving in Michigan.

So based on this post I can assume that there are atleast 3 Prius's in the Big 3 dominated Michigan. I have only ever seen 4 Prius's other than mine, this of course makes it easy to find in a parking lot :)

I'm at 56 MPG, the same place where I was last September and October.

I concur with the Spring is here MPGs. Plus taking off snow tires (thus guaranteeing a late spring snowfall!), my current tank is at 50.4. And the car rolls so much nicer than with the 'sticky' snow tires...yet they were a nice investment for the trips up to the snowboard slopes.

    It's all good.

Have had an '05 Silver #6 since last October. We only have about 3700 miles so far. Once we hit 3500, the milage increased from about 48 mpg to 54 mpg. We attributed the increase to finally "breaking in" the eggmobile, but this thread tells me that weather is more likely responsible for the increased fuel economy. Whatever the case, it is sweet indeed. We can tool all over western Oakland county guilt free.

Our other vehicle is a 2002 Ford Exploder which is mighty handy in certain weather up here, but I hate the 18 mpg average it gives me.

Something else to consider other than the change in weather is the change in fuel. In TX it is mandatory to use the winter fuel blend that has been oxygenated from 1 Oct - 31 Mar. This always causes my fuel economy to drop about 5 MPG.

I am back up to around 60 MPG according to the MFD (which is about 54 MPG hand calculations).

Does anyone know if Michigan uses this oxygenated winter blend? And if so when, or are we always stuck with it?

I see a lot of Priuses around this part of Michigan. I see at least one per day it seems (besides mine, of course :)). One time this past week, I stopped behind a brand new Jeep (one of the boxy we-don't-give-a-darn-about-aerodynamics types) and then I noticed the familiar rear roof view of another Prius ahead of him. I wonder if he noticed that he was sandwiched between us.

My daily commute is from Northville to Ann Arbor and back, 27 miles each way. I see lots of Priuses in Ann Arbor. At 264 miles into this tank I'm looking at 62.3 MPG on the MFD.

As much as I love the increase in mileage my favorite thing about spring is that it isn't winter anymore. I hate being cold.

Wow! What a good thread of MI (and great lakes) Prius owners!

A couple weeks ago, I met a nice couple at the Home Depot in Lapeer. They had a 2006 with all the toys in Barcelona Red. I still prefer the darker Salsa Red of my '05, but in person, the new red was not bad at all!

They were kind enough to let me see the new hi-res display in the '06. That would make a worthy upgrade if possible. I had no idea the backup camera was full color, either! Way cool.

This was their SECOND Prius. They also own a 2004 with just over 100,000 trouble-free miles. I got the impression that he's a traveling salesman.

Soon I'll be pushing the envelope once again as I drive with a flashing fuel warning and strive for the rare 600 mile tank of gas!

Yes it feels good to know I am not alone. Here is a Picture of my 06 in Barcelona Red (Weird but I prefer it over the Salsa Red go figure?) And Yes the Hi-res and Backup cam are great :)

So I guess the question is going to be, where is the first southeast Michigan Prius meet going to be?

In the two years I've owned this car, I've actually only spoken to three other Prius owners in person. That's why I like PriusCat... I mean CHAT, so much.

Another Michigander here. I enjoyed the warmer temps this weekend too. I filled up Friday before heading for Traverse City. Temperature was high 70's on Friday and 60's on Saturday. We travelled a total of 281 miles and when I filled up on Saturday upon getting back into town it only took 5.1 gallons. Figures out to 55.09 MPG's with most of that being highway driving. Needless to say I was :D from ear to ear after this trip.
